How to Change an iPhone Battery

In addition to cracked screens and freezing hard drives, battery life is one of the top items within your mobile Apple handheld product like an iPhone, iPod, or iPad. While there are numerous settings on your phone that will increase battery life, once your battery is dead, it then becomes an expensive paperweight. If you are ready to take on the challenge of changing the battery yourself, then follow the steps outlined below.

Item you will need to take on replace your iPhone battery include a specially made screw driver called a Screw Driver Torx kit. Additionally you will need a replacement battery. Both of these are available at numerous online retailers. Now lets get started in the repair process.

The first step in removing an iPhone battery is to insert the pointy end of a safety pin into the tiny hole next to the headphone jack. This will eject the tray portion of the back plate. Next, remove the two screws on both sides of the dock end. You want to now separate the front display from the back panel by wedging the spudger between the glass front panel and chrome ring. Always be careful to not tear any ribbons that still connect both panels to each other. Then remove cables labeled "1" then "2" in that particular order with the spudger. The last ribbon cable can be released by flipping up the white tab holding it in place. This will allow the front and back cases to become completely separate. Next, remove the eight screws holding down the motherboard. Undo the ribbon labeled "4", then lift out the motherboard. A ribbon going to the camera will still attach it. Remove that particular ribbon from the camera to put the motherboard aside. Pry the camera out to allow the logic board to slide out. Make sure all screws securing the logic board are removed before doing so. Pull on the tab on the battery to remove it. Replace it with the new one and then put all of the parts back together in the opposite order you took them off in.

Does iPhone battery replacement sound too complicated? It does tend to be for most novices. Usually many people can get there devices taken apart and the iPhone battery replaced, but struggle to get them back together. Just remember that there are a lot of little parts in your device and extreme care should be used so as not to loose them.

A Look At Design And Camera Facilities On The Samsung Galaxy S2 And The Galaxy S Advance

The Samsung Galaxy range of mobile smartphones seems to be growing all of the time and the latest addition to the family is the new Galaxy S Advance. Previously we took a look at screen technology and processing power on this device and looked at how it compared with the bestselling Samsung Galaxy S2. This time we look at camera features on both of these models and also see how the models compare in terms of design.

The new Samsung Galaxy S Advance features an improved camera facility from the Galaxy S model that it is based on. Still photography quality is impressive and images can be captured at a resolution of 5 million pixels. As you would expect a wealth of additional features are available to help you capture the highest quality images possible. Auto focus will help ensure that there is minimal blur on any photos and the useful Smile Detection function will take the photograph the moment it detects people smiling. Thanks to the phone incorporating GPS all photographs can also have location details stored about where the snaps were taken.

Despite the Galaxy S Advance offering a high quality camera feature the Samsung Galaxy S2 offers a little more in terms of quality in this area. An 8 mega pixel camera captures an incredible quality of image although many of the additional features are the same as can be found on the Advance model. Both handsets offer a secondary front facing camera which is ideal for video calls and both are also capable of capturing still images. The Galaxy S2 can record 2 mega pixel resolution from this camera while the Galaxy S Advance offers just 1.3 mega pixels.

One of the key areas on modern smartphones is design. A great looking device will always grab the attention of the consumer while a more dated design will often be overlooked. The Galaxy range of devices are famous for their stylish looks and both of these handsets do not disappoint in this area. The Galaxy S Advance looks very similar to the original Galaxy S device. The handset measures 123.2 x 63 x 9.7mm which makes the phone one of the most compact currently available.

At just 120 grammes in weight the model is also surprisingly lightweight considering it includes a 4 inch display. Although the Samsung Galaxy S2 includes a larger 4.3 inch screen the phone manages to weigh less than the Advance model at just 116 grammes. The model measures just 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5mm and is constructed from some very durable plastic. This black plastic gives the phone a very modern look which combines well with the curved corners of the phone to leave us with a device that may not win any awards for innovation but still looks superb.

The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is a superb addition to the Galaxy range and will strike a chord with consumers looking for great value for money. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is still the premium model in the range and offers superior camera features and excellent design despite its advancing age.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is available now and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming soon.

An Introduction To Some Popular HTC Sensation XL Tariffs

The HTC Sensation XL is one of the more stylish offerings from the popular Taiwanese manufacturer. It has a number of impressive features, most notably Beats Audio by Dr Dre which makes this the perfect phone for music lovers.

If you would like to get your hands on this device, you can choose from a selection of tariffs provided by various UK networks. As an added bonus, many of these include a free HTC Sensation XL handset and in this article I will look at a couple of offers which include this, and look at how they differ in terms of their allowances and costs.

T-Mobile
One of T-Mobile's best packages is available for £26 per month, and comes with a free HTC Sensation XL handset which is preferable to most than paying the £389 for the SIM free phone. This contract lasts for 24 months, and within each of these you are allotted 300 minutes of free calls, unlimited text messages and 750 MB of data. Based on average smartphone usage, most people should find these allowances more than ample.

Vodafone
One of Vodafone's more attractive tariffs is similar in many ways to the aforementioned T-Mobile one. Like the above tariff, you get a free HTC Sensation XL, unlimited free text messages and 300 free minutes per month. The data is slightly less, at 500 MB per month, however this should not prove to be too much of a problem if you intend to do the majority of your internet browsing over Wi-Fi. In any case, 500 MB is way above the average data usage for consumers in the UK, so unless you are a very frequent user of 3G data, you should be fine with this contract. This also costs a relatively affordable £26 per month and lasts for 24 months after which time you can renew or cancel the contract.

O2
I have looked at some of the more affordable tariffs so far, but if you are willing to spend a bit more every month, then you can enjoy much more generous allowances. This is perfectly demonstrated by the O2 Unlimited plan. As you may have guessed from the name, users are treated to unlimited free calls and text messages to any network at any time. Data is restricted though, with 1 GB provided every month over the network's 3G coverage. 1 GB is actually a huge amount of data, and it is unlikely that anyone would use that much in a month. Regardless of this, Wi-Fi is of course also free and has no restrictions. This tariff will set you back £67 per month (for 24 months) and includes a free HTC Sensation.

As you can see, there are several options available if you want a free HTC Sensation XL. The various tariffs have a each have their own advantages and disadvantages, but provide plenty of choice for potential customers. At PhonesLimited.co.uk we compare all HTC Sensation XL deals on a daily basis, allowing you to find you perfect tariff based on your specific requirements.

AirAV Provides A Great Media Streaming Service On The iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S uses a high quality screen which makes the device perfect for viewing video content on the phone. The only problem encountered by some users is when the video file that they are trying to view is not in a format that is recognised by Apple and therefore the phone refuses to play the content. A new application is available for this phone that acts as a true multi media player capable of playing back a wealth of content on your device.

AirAV is a new application available from the iTunes App Store that helps users overcome problems in playing back a variety of video files. Several video playback applications are now available but we were drawn to AirAv as it does not concentrate on filling up your valuable storage space with large files. AirAV uses the WiFi connection on your iPhone 4S to find content that is available on other devices connected on your network. When you launch the application for the first time your network is scanned and a list of devices that can share material is displayed on the phone. These devices can range from a laptop or home computer to recording devices with streaming capabilities. Simply tapping on any one of these items allows you to browse the compatible content that is stored on it. When we tested the application we were impressed with the sheer number of different file formats that were supported. We encountered no problems in playing back AVI, MP3, WMV and FLAC content.

The AirAV application for the iPhone 4S can also connect to a range of media servers which can store a huge amount of material for distribution around your home. We tapped into our Sony PS3 with no problems at all and the developers quote that almost all servers can be used with this application including Linux and XMBC powered units. So we have established that this new application can connect to just about any piece of equipment connected to a home network but what about the quality of the playback? We found no issues in this area and playing back video files was not only very fast but the quality was superb. Files played back almost instantly and users can select which point of the file they want to start their playback from. The fact that the application does not enable you to compile playlists is a slight disappointment however this can be forgiven thanks to the wealth of files formats available and the quality that is on offer.

The iPhone 4S is a super phone for viewing movie content and the AirAV application enhances this experience. Streaming of content is very simple and the quality rivals what you would expect from a file that was stored directly on the phone.

The iPhone 4S and the HTC Sensation XL are available now.

How To Repair An iPhone 4 That Suddenly Stopped Working

We regularly receive calls from upset iPhone owners telling us that their iPhone 4 has just died and will not turn on, charge, boot or react to them in any way.

We seem to have discovered a nice and easy solution that works most of the time. The way to fix your problem is to simply do a hard reset on the iPhone.

If you do not already know how to do this, here are the instructions on how to do a hard reset: All you need to do is to hold the home button and the power button in at the same time for 15 to 20 seconds. After around fifteen seconds, the Apple logo should show up and your beloved iPhone 4 will boot up and be back to normal. If you are confused about the steps, there are some good guides that can be found on YouTube. Just search for "iphone 4 hard reset" and you will find videos that will explain the whole process to you, step by step.

We are not sure what creates this problem it appears to occur quite often. We think it is a bug in the iPhone software that just makes the phone completely freeze working now and then. If this tactic does not fix the issue then you take the iPhone in to your service provider if it's under warranty. If it is not, take it to a reputable iPhone repair centre.

In order to avoid having this problem, it is recommended that you always keep your iPhone updated on the latest iOS software as each new release contains many bug fixes. Apple is continually striving to have the most stable cellular phone operating system available. By keeping updated, you will at least know that you have the best possible software on your iPhone and that it has the least possible change of crashing. This obviously isn't a guarantee but it is a best practice.

It is a common though that jailbreaking your iPhone can lead to your phone freezing, as we have described earlier in this article. While it is possible that jailbreaking can "brick" your iPhone, it will not cause the problem we are dealing with now. We have seen this happen on both jailbroken and standard iPhones. We however, haven't seen this problem on any iPhone 3G's or 3GS's, only the iPhone 4. We wonder if the iPhone 4S will suffer from the same problem.

We run an on-site iPhone repair service in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa and would like to share some of our experience with the world.

The iPhone 4S Includes Wireless AirPrint

The iPhone 4S includes wireless AirPrint printing capabilities which allow you to print directly form your handset from a compatible printer. Previously only third party apps had offered the ability to link to printers, however the manufacturer has stepped in to produce a built-in app of its own which allows you to print seamlessly from the device.

With the tap of an onscreen button you can now print emails, documents, photos and web pages from the handset without the need for downloading a third party application form the App Store, adding any printer drivers or using cables such as USB to the docking connector. From within applications such as Mail or the Safari web browser you can now choose the option to print, and as with your computer view a list of printers available, select your options and hit the print tab. The printing is done completely wirelessly through WiFi with compatible wireless printers being seamlessly found by the device and then used as a printer. This provides a long range and extreme ease, with any new or recently new printers on the market with the capability respectively, being able to be used by AirPrint.

One of the best things about this functionality is that it is built in to the iPhone 4S out of the box along with its other preinstalled applications, and offers immediate printing opportunities form apps such as Mail, iWork, Photos or PDF documents onscreen. Whatever you view onscreen, and indeed can view on the large Retina display, you are likely to be able to print. Better still, the app will automatically adjust what you are printing to suit the printer, so it will print a document from Pages (word processor) to A4 paper or photos form a photo loading tray if its found to be present on the printer you use. The feature works with all other built-in applications, as well as being supported by many third party apps as well. AirPrint enabled printers are also available and offer instant support for the feature, printers form well-known brands including HP, Epson and Canon are among those with support and overall allowing you to make life easier and faster.

AirPrint is among one of many new features and hundreds of functions that the iPhone 4S has introduced and is able to meet in an effort to be a truly mazing handset. Along with its other hardware and the new iOS 5 operating system and all other preloaded apps, this feature is yet another invaluable resource on a great device.

How To Use The Innovative People App On The HTC Rhyme

In this article I will take a closer look at the People app of the stylish HTC Rhyme. Although this is a feature which many take for granted, you will see that it benefits from a number of innovations thanks to the HTC Sense UI.

The People app is essentially an enhanced contacts folder, and as I will demonstrate in this article, a seemingly mundane feature like this has more than meets the eye thanks to HTC's innovative user interface.

When you activate you new HTC Rhyme, you will be guided through the process of transferring all of your contacts from your old phone, using Bluetooth functionality. Once you have done this, you can open the People app where you will be presented with all of your contacts in alphabetical order. Thanks to the responsive touchscreen you can easily scroll through these and even search for a specific contact by saying their name after touching the microphone icon on the top right corner.

When a contact is selected you will be given the option to link them to several other services like Facebook. When you do this, it will pull information from their Facebook profile such as their date of birth, current Facebook status, and recent tweets on Twitter, as well as alternative contact information such as work, home and mobile phone numbers and email addresses. To communicate with them via a different format, simply tap the selected one and you will be taken to the appropriate app or interface to do this. Additionally, when you call someone or they call you, relevant info from these different sources will be displayed on the screen along with their Facebook profile picture.

When you are composing or reading an SMS or MMS message, the People icon will be displayed in the top left hand corner. Simply tap this and three options will be revealed, which are shortcuts to the phone, message and People interfaces. When you are viewing a contact in the People app, you will see several shortcuts along the bottom which take you to different views of the contact. These include messages, which will take you to your last text and MMS conversation with this contact. There is also a mail icon which takes you to the last email interaction between yourself and this contact. Updates and events is another icon which syncs with your calendar app and displays a list of events which involve this person. Finally there is a gallery shortcut which displays photos of yourself and the contact, and there is also a call history icon which displays a list of the time and date of your previous calls with this person and highlights who the caller and recipient were.

As you can see the People app makes it easy to both display information about your contacts and switch between the interfaces of different contact formats. Syncing and linking information between different applications is what HTC Sense does best, and this is perfectly demonstrated in the People app on phones like the HTC Rhyme.

Free Reverse Cell Phone Lookup - The Truth About Mobile Phone Search

There are many situations where you may want or need to perform a cell phone lookup, and in most cases it will have nothing to do with spying on someone. It may be something as simple as trying to figure out whether a person still owns a phone number before calling him or her after several years, or looking up a number which you suspect might be erroneous to avoid making a call to the wrong person.

The problem is that when you set out to reverse search a cell number you will start hitting walls left and right, and the reason is that the so called free directories usually do not offer any real information about cell lines as they might with regards to landlines.

Indeed, mobile phone numbers and the respective information about the owners is stored in the carriers database which is privately held and not freely available to the public.

This means that the claims of some website about free reverse cell phone lookup are usually false and they only seek to lure you in with the promise of free access when in fact you will have to pay for any information you want to get about that mobile number.

Therefore, the first recommendation in order for you to save time and even money, is to start your search with this in mind and simply look for a website that offers a good preliminary report before you have to pull out your wallet.

Indeed, although I can assure you will not be handed out any information about a cell phone for free, I can tell you that you will be able to see exactly what data is available for a particular number, such as name, addresses, alternate numbers, relatives, etc.

This is important because otherwise you would be blindly paying for information without having a clue about what you will be getting for your money, so the important thing is not to try to get it for free, which as I said before is basically impossible, but to get it right, thus the golden rule when performing a reverse cell phone lookup is to assess whether you will be getting the information you are looking for or not.

So for example, if your are mainly interested in a name and an address, then a preliminary report that states that the name and alternate numbers of the owner are available will tell you that it is not worth paying for the service.

The good thing is that, even though the only way to access information about a cell phone is by paying for it, you will not really have to spend a significant amount of money, and by this I mean that doing so will not hurt more than drinking a couple of coffees.

If you want to perform a reverse cell phone lookup right now, simply go to http://reversecellphonelookuphq.com/ and get your preliminary report containing all the available information regarding that number you wish to inquire about.

A Look At Some Invaluable Education Apps On The Apple iPhone 4S

Whether you are at school or university, the iPhone 4S can be an invaluable learning and organisation resource thanks to apps like iStudiez Pro. In this article I will look at a couple of the top apps designed for keeping students organised.

iStudiez Pro.
This is app is available from the AppStore for a one-off fee of £1.99, so it is relatively inexpensive for the advantages it offers to students. To use the app, you must first enter your class schedules, and these will be saved in the calendar which provides an overview of your classes for the week, and automatically carries your schedule forward to future weeks. When in the calendar view, simply tap a date and your schedule will be displayed for that day. To stay on top of your homework, assignments, projects and exams, you simply enter the details of these, and the app will alert you to upcoming deadlines, which is handy if you often forget to hand in your work on time.

You can also prioritise these so they will be ranked by importance so you can use your time more effectively by making sure you work on your more important projects first. The app is simple to update with new tasks, simply by tapping on the appropriate date and entering the relevant information using the Qwerty keyboard on the iPhone 4S's retina display. This app can also be handy for teachers as it can allow them to stay on top of their classes and deadlines for homework. Many will prefer to carry out the tasks of this app using a pen and paper, but for tech enthusiasts it can prove very convenient and an efficient way to stay organised.

New Oxford American Dictionary
One of the more expensive apps in the Education category of the AppStore, the New Oxford American Dictionary costs £20.99 but is likely to prove a useful addition to your app library no matter what subject(s) you study. This app goes beyond the standard book format of traditional dictionaries with a number of enhancements. For example, the app will update when new words are officially added to the dictionary, and some 60,000 words have audio pronunciation, and these are also regularly updated. Having a dictionary on your iPhone 4S is of course also a space saver. We all know how big and heavy a full dictionary is, but with the New Oxford American Dictionary, you have a fully functioning 350,000+ word dictionary in the palm of your hand, available at a moment's notice. Although this app has a rather costly initial outlay, it is likely to more than pay for itself in the long term, and in fact is much cheaper than the original hardback book of the same title.

Of course there are numerous apps in the AppStore's education category, but the two in this article are likely to have a broad appeal to a range of students, whatever level of education they are currently studying. Also, apps like these highlight the versatility and wide-ranging appeal of smartphones like the Apple iPhone 4S.

Types Of Mobile Phone Plans

Mobile phone plans are the packages and bundles of call time, texts and internet usage amongst many others, that phone and communications companies put together in order to entice customers to sign up to their service.

Typically they are a basic combination of, as mentioned, call time, texts, data allowances (how much data you can download per month), then there are usually "add ons", which are more of these, but at an attractive price to entice you into getting them, so let's say you have an allowance of 300 text per month for free, they might offer another 100 texts for as little as £2.

It's worth thinking about what kind of phone user you are. Perhaps you are an infrequent user of your phone, spending less than an hour in total talking (on calls that youhave made as opposed to calls made to you) and sending less than 50 texts. Or maybe you are a medium user, spending up to 100 minutes of call time and sending 100 texts. You might be a teenager who sends texts all day long rather than calling your friends, or you might be a heavy user of the phone, perhaps without a landline, spending hundreds of minutes per month, and using the internet to send e mails.

Another way of looking at it would be to think about how much you spend on your phone if you are a pay as you go customer. Have that figure in mind, as well as what we've just discussed before you look at plans.

A quick note to remember is that you might get a free phone when you sign up to a bill plan. Please be sure to consider recycling your old phone. This can be done by asking in store if they take trade ins, or there are charities out there that will take you phone and do it for you, and make a few pounds for themselves.

Phoneplans begin around the 30 pounds per month level. The market is so competitive that many offer unlimited texts, and the call time will typically be 300 minutes.

Moving up and you pay around 40 pounds per month, getting up to 60 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb of data usage on the internet, and if you pick an plan for around fifty pounds, you can generally get over 1000 minutes, 750mb+, and again, unlimited texting.

Research before you buy and ask in store or look online, because you will need to sign a contract for one year minimum in most cases.

A Look At The Convenient Notifications Bar On The HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation has a notifications bar built into the HTC Sense UI, which allows users to stay on top of notifications and provides easy access to the settings menu. In this article I will look at how to use this feature.

When you are looking at the HTC Sensation home screen, you will notice a small bar at the top of the screen, which displays all the usual info such as signal strength, battery life etc. But if you touch this bar and slide your finger down the screen it will reveal a whole new screen which is the notifications menu.

At the top of this screen, it will display shortcuts to the last five apps which you used, which can be opened directly by tapping the icon of whichever app you want to open. Below these it will display any apps which are currently open and running in the background. This is where you will see apps like Easy Task Killer, should you have it installed, as it runs in the background, preserving battery life by closing apps which are not being used. Below this you will see the main notifications panel. This will display notifications such as new emails, Facebook and Twitter notifications, missed calls and unread messages. This can be beneficial as it saves time because you do not have to open each application to check for notifications, instead providing a convenient overview of a single screen. Simply tap a notification and it will take you straight to the relevant app where you can view it and respond accordingly.

At the bottom of the notifications panel on the HTC Sensation you will see a shortcut to the Quick Settings menu. When you open this, you will be presented with a list of all the connectivity options of the phone, and they can all be turned on and off instantly by checking or un-checking the box next to each option. So for example, you can turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot feature instantly, and the same goes for Wi-Fi, mobile network, Bluetooth and GPS. There is also a shortcut to the 'All Settings' menu below these where you can view and edit the settings of the entire operating system.

When you have finished using the notifications bar, simply slide it back to the top using the touchscreen, where you will once again be back at the home screen.

The notifications bar is a great example of the features of the HTC Sense UI which are aimed at making the user experience as convenient and hassle free as possible. The HTC Sensation is just one of the handsets which includes this feature, and it can be found in many other devices which run HTC Sense such as the Desire HD, Wildfire S and new HTC Sensation XE.

Cell Towers As Part of Our Nation's Health Care Component?

Some folks are more sensitive than others are to the vibrational energy around them. There is lots of frequency pollution in our society and civilization, and more so each and every year. As the Federal Communications Commission grants more and more frequency allocations, soon there will be energy traveling at all the possible frequencies, and then I ask how can biological systems get a break, and how can they possibly evolve fast enough to handle such bombardment on every channel and on every frequency?

Yes, I dare to ask this question, and recently I had this discussion and discourse with a fellow intellectual thinker. After discussing several topics of interest around this same overall subject, I stated to my acquaintance; "okay back to the topics, I have several I have been mulling around in my head on the topic of biology for 5 or more years, perhaps your unclouded mind can assist."

Since we now have cell towers everywhere putting out microwaves, chances are it will have a biological effect, if low levels it could be okay, if higher levels very damaging, but what if we chose the perfect levels and it helped with healthcare, sickness, eradicating various bacteria, disease, viruses, or simply super-charged the immune system?

What if we used frequency cancelling like the stereo speakers which cancel out noise?

Could we take the frequency to a point where it would cause a robust and deep sleep, thus, improving health, and less sleep time, thus, more cognitive surplus, healthier people, and more productivity, and time for leisure too?

If we know the optimum needed for various good bacteria in our bodies and the cells of various organs in the human body, and if we know at which frequencies plant life grows better, then perhaps we can figure out a way to have more of that, and less of the damaging vibrational frequencies which can cause mutations, cancers, and promote diseases, viruses, and bad bacteria. And why wouldn't we work to understand these things better, and do the proper research to literally "tune" ourselves in?

You see, with all the knowledge, supercomputers, artificial intelligence, and research that we have going on in and around this subject, surely we can come up with the right combination to create a win-win for mankind and his environment, along with all the other species we rely on for our daily lives, food, and enjoyment. If we really cared about our environment, we would be thinking here. And therefore I ask that you please consider all this and think on it.

Social Mobile Media to Be Next Big Thing

When I started one of my first websites, it was impractical to be continuously adding content everyday, so I set up a guest book to allow users to add content instead. Years later, someone coined the phrase blogging and blogging became the big thing. At the time, I remember hearing the phrase for the first time and learning what it meant, and I thought to myself, "I was already doing that."

Since the late 1990s, I always owned a bunch of websites. Over the years, I learned the secrets of traffic generation and Search Engine Optimization. So much so that web host after web host would tell me that my website crashed due to traffic overload. I was on the economy package and to allow the amount of traffic I was bringing to their servers would have required me to be on a high traffic package. Those were the good ones. Most of them would just shut down my website or suspend my account and punish me for traffic spikes. Quite foolish but that's the reality website owners have to live with. Recently I've noticed some web hosts claiming that this is precisely what gives them their competitive edge.

So I started backing up my websites on my hard drive. Guess what happened. Yes, that crashed too, again and again. This was back when I was using Windows instead of Mac. (I've since fixed that problem.) So I got fed up and decided that I would no longer store anything on my hard drive and that everything had to be stored online. So I created a number of free storage accounts and would save all my material there. This was my de facto cloud.

Software became increasingly available online so I would try to use online software as far as possible. The idea was simple: to be as independent as possible of any computer and to be able to work from anywhere. That was what "cloud computing" afforded me.

Some years later, I heard, at an ICT conference, the phrase "cloud computing." I found this to be a most unappealing name. The perception of a cloud was always something negative. Every cloud has a silver lining. There is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the economy. The prime minister's vision is clouded by greed. I don't know who came up with the term "cloud" but it is rather lame and negative-sounding.

So now, before anybody else comes up with a term for it, let me lay claim to the next big thing, not that I take part in it much, but I seem to be able to identify trends before they are labeled and marketed as "clouds" and "blogs."

In my mind, I don't need to come up with a new name for it. It already exists and you may very well be reading this article through it.

For marketability, however, let's call it "smart media" because I believe the next big thing will be mobile social media. Everything is going to be happening on smartphones. An application will be created that will transcend all platforms. It will not be limited to BlackBerry or iPhones. It will be usable on all platforms. Twitter comes close to what I have in mind but it is still too complicated. The application will be a no-brain-required kind of app. It will be fast and in real time. Users will be able to get news, updates from friends and even free videoconferencing like FaceTime.

In my next article, I will tell you about another prediction. I believe people will revert to the rolodex and start writing things down again. As more and more computers crash, as more and more smartphones and tablets drown in the red sea, as newer and newer systems systems take root, as websites keep updating and upgrading, often to the chagrin of the user, the goo old pen and paper will resurrect, so that every time a device changes, the user would not have to try to re-enter all of his contacts' and information.

Mark my words, this is what is coming next.

Aleem Khan suggests that you http://getyournamein.com/ and start your own social mobile medium.

A Look Around The iPhone 4S

The release of Apple's refreshed iPhone disappointed a lot of Apple's fan base. It's not because it is not that good, but people were expecting Apple to release the iPhone 5. This was the initial reaction of people last year, but it is a whole new ball game now. This is because the iPhone 4S is now making a huge buzz and is considered as one of the best and top-selling smartphones to date. Let's have a look around the Apple iPhone 4S and see why it is making such a huge buzz all over the world today.

One of the reasons why people had a change of heart about this handset is because of its powerful A5 chip. The phone may look just like the 4th generation iPhone but this phone is just way ahead when it comes to being quick and responsive. This makes a huge difference when it comes to browsing, launching apps, playing games, and just about doing anything and everything.

Another best-selling feature of this phone is its iOS 5. This is considered as the most exciting feature of this handset. It ships with more than 200 features than the other iPhone versions, plus it comes with improved notification system on emails. It is truly the most advanced and most powerful iOS to date.

The phone's display and resolution may be similar with the iPhone 4, but then again iPhone 4's users can't say that what they have is not good at all. The iPhone 4S comes with a 3.5" retina with 1.5:1 aspect ratio multi-touch display. It also bears an LED back lights IPS TFT LCD screen (960 x 640 pixel resolution is at 326 ppi or 0.61 MP. With all of these, you will get crisp and crystal clear images at all times. It comes with fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating on the phone's front and back side as well.

Let's talk about the phone's amazing camera. This handset ships with a whopping 8MP resolution camera with autofocus, LED flash, and the splendid face detection. It comes with a custom lens with f/2.4 aperture and advanced hybrid filter. This will bring you accurate and sharper images that you won't get from other smartphones. It also supports 1080p HD video recording (30 frames per second). You will also have an improved auto white balance; this will make your viewing experience more colorful and more accurate.

There are other great features that you will get on this phone, and what I mentioned above are just bits and pieces of something that is truly amazing. All of these and more are only from the refreshed iPhone, the iPhone 4S.

A Look At Rumoured Specification On The New Samsung Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was the biggest selling handset of 2011 and the model is continuing to sell well as we move through 2012. With many manufacturers such as Apple and Sony launching new handsets over the coming months Samsung are rumoured to be releasing the Galaxy S3, the successor to the famous S2. We take a look at the specification that we are likely to see included on this exciting new model.

Despite the manufacturer revealing that they will not be unveiling the new Samsung Galaxy 3 at the 2012 Mobile World Congress it is still anticipated that the model will be launched in the first half of this year. When the S2 was released its 8.5mm depth made the phone the slimmest available at the time. Since then numerous other devices have matched this measurement so Samsung are aiming make this new model measure around 7mm in depth. This would make the model the slimmest phone currently available. One reason why the model will sport such a slim profile is because it is set to use the second generation of the Gorilla Glass. This material was used on the Galaxy S2 but the newer version is approximately half the thickness which will help the manufacturers reduces the overall depth of the model. The screen itself will probably measure 4.65 inches and sport the very latest Super AMOLED Plus technology to enable it to produce stunning picture quality and improved viewing angles. We expect the model to rival the iPhone 4S for pixel density which would mean that the display would have to sport a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

It is widely believed that the new Samsung Galaxy S3 will be one of the very first mobile phones to incorporate a quad core processor. Some reports suggest that Samsung may opt for a 2Ghz dual core chip but with other brands set to launch quad core devices Samsung will be eager to match what their rivals are offering. If a quad core chip is included then the speed is likely to be somewhere between 1.5Ghz and 1.8Ghz. To accompany this processor a large RAM memory of around 2GB will ensure that the device operates at great speed and also mean that it is ready for any future software developments. Being a premium handset there are likely to be a least two versions of this phone released. The basic model will offer 16GB of storage capacity while the more expensive version will include 32GB. Samsung may also choose to match the iPhone 4S and release a third model sporting a massive 64GB of storage space.

The official specification of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has not been revealed yet but the model looks very likely to include many of the features we have mentioned. Whatever the final specification is we can be sure that the phone will prove a huge success with consumers everywhere.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming soon and the iPhone 4S is available now.

Types of Prepaid Phone Plans

About Prepaid Cell Phone Plans

People are discovering that prepaid cell phone plans are quickly becoming popular, due to the fact that some of them can be the cheapest cellular phone plans available today. Prepaid phones are now so affordable that more people than ever are taking advantage of the different prepaid services that are available. Prepaid mobile has come a long way in recent years. The options have expanded greatly as the costs per minute have dropped. Many large cell service provider companies now offer prepaid plans for customers who prefer to use a pay-as-you-go method service for their mobile devices instead of post-paid plans.

Questions You Need to Answer Before Buying a Mobile Phone Service

When you start looking at prepaid cell phone plans, you'll find a lot of variations. Before you purchase your plan, it is important to understand the different types of plans that are available. Think about how you will use your phone. Is it just for talking or for both talking and texting? Do you need data service as well for exploring apps and websites and getting email on your phone? Will you use your phone a lot or a little? Answering these questions will help you sort out what kind of prepaid cell service you really need.

Pay-As-You-Go Phone Plans

Pay-as-you go plans are the best for people who use their phone infrequently. With this type of plan you simply purchase the number of minutes you'd like to use, and once you use them, you purchase more. Some companies such as Tracphone give you extra minutes, based on the number of minutes you buy. Text messages cost you a certain amount of seconds of talk time if the plan includes texting.

Pay-by-the-day is the best type of cell phone choice for people who need to use their phones only on certain days of the week or month. You pay a set rate per day and are not charged for days you do not use your phone.

Pay-as-you-go and pay-by-the-day plans are considered to be the best prepaid cell service choices for infrequent use phone patterns.

Monthly Prepaid Phone Plans

A monthly prepaid cell phone plan may provide the lowest cost for moderate to heavy users. It can automatically be billed to your credit card each month. The number of phone minutes and text messages you can acquire under these plans are variable. There are some prepaid cell services that give you extra free minutes of talk time during weekends. Some of these plans may include data use as well.

Unlimited Prepaid Mobile Plans

If you use your mobile phone a lot, then the best prepaid phone services for you are unlimited cell plans. With the rise in popularity of unlimited plans, many companies are getting into the competition. This competition is bringing down prices into the $45.00 to $70.00 per month range. As the mobile phone industry has continued to evolve, most prepaid cell phone plans now offer unlimited calling, messaging, and data. The best prepaid phone plans allow you to talk, surf the internet, use your favorite apps, and text freely and reliably without the hassle of a contract cell phone plan.

Investigate the Plans Before Buying

If you are looking for the best prepaid cell phone plans that match your needs, your first step is to check the specific plans offered by mobile phone service companies. Compare and contrast the different prepaid mobile plans out there, and you'll be able to find one that works perfectly for you.

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Release Date, Price, Design and Features Round-Up

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is to be the successor to the hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S2 and rumours surrounding its release date, features, design and price are rife, here we take a look at what has so far been confirmed and what we can expect from this new high-end smart phone.

First of all, Samsung may have accidentally already revealed the Galaxy S3 in a video launched at the recent CES event this year which shows a larger handset than the S2 with a much bigger touch screen and slimmer bevel surround, the display is likely to be 4.6 inches or more based on the manufacturers last two release.

These include the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which sports a 4.65 inch display and the Samsung Galaxy Note which packs the largest touch screen currently available at a massive 5.3 inches, the Galaxy S3 will most definitely use Super AMOLED Plus technology and offer HD support at 1080p as this is already available on the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The camera will most probably turn out to be a 12 mega pixel lens although Samsung did out a 16 mega pixel unit in October of last year there has been no talk connecting it with the Galaxy S3, the camera will be enhanced with face recognition, smile detection, LED flash, image stabiliser, auto and touch focus and 1080p video capture.

When it comes to a definite release date there is no confirmed knowledge at this time, originally tipped to be launching at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona the manufacturer has now confirmed that will not be the case. Reports suggest that it may be a while longer as the company want to avoid the staggered release scenario of the Galaxy S2 which saw a significant delay in launched the product in America after hitting the UK market.

It has also been rumoured that it could coincide with the release of the new Apple iPhone 5, the S2 was launched around the same time as the iPhone 4 and has gone on to outsell Apple's previous model in the UK, the newer iPhone 4S has also failed to make much of an impact on Galaxy S2 sales figures.

In terms of overall design, the Samsung Galaxy S3 looks to be following a similar stance to the S2 with a lightweight, slim and sleek form which makes the iPhone look a little bulky, the main touch screen dominates the front of the handset and touch sensitive buttons may be removed.

This is mostly due to the new phone shipping with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich edition operating system which negates the need for both physical and touch buttons, it also introduces lots of new features and updates such as better task management, facial recognition unlock, live effects for video, advanced NFC sharing features and improved email and web browser.

Powering this new flagship phone could well be the first ever quad-core processor as the manufacturer; Qualcomm have now confirmed that these are available, this could increase speeds to between 1.6GHz and 2GHz making the Galaxy S3 one of the fastest smart phones available.

As for price, it is widely expected that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will cost a little more than the S2 did when it was first released, this would mean that a free phone would probably be available with contract deals of between £36 and £41 line rental costs per month.

If you would like to see Samsung Galaxy S3 deals as they are released or take a look at information about the iPhone 5 please feel free to browse our website: Phones Limited.

HTC Explorer Deals On O2 UK Offer The Handset For Free

The HTC Explorer may not be the most cutting edge smartphone out there, but it is well suited to those who simply want a functional smartphone which performs everyday tasks well. If you are looking to get your hands on this phone, you will be pleased to know that you can take out a contract with one of a number of UK networks, which will even include the phone for free. In this article I will look at the HTC Explorer deals offered by popular UK network O2.

O2 is a good choice when taking out a new HTC Explorer contract, as all their deals include the handset itself for free, meaning you will make a saving of £134.99 which is the cost of the SIM free handset. The cheapest deal currently offered by O2 will set you back just £10.50 per month (for 24 months) and this includes 50 minutes of free calls and 25 free text messages. For an extra £3 a month you can also get 100MB of data which allows you to use O2's 3G network to browse the internet. After you have used 100MB of data in a given month, the service will slow down considerably and standard data charges will apply.

If you are willing to pay a little extra every month, you can enjoy much more generous allowances. These include 600 minutes of free calls to any UK network at ay time, as well an unlimited text messages and a substantial monthly data allowance of 1GB per month. At 36 per month (for 24 months) this tariff makes a great choice for those who are frequent users of mobile internet, text messages and calls. Depending on the retailer through which the contract is purchased you can also enjoy free line rental for the first few months, ranging from 13 to 22 months.

If you are in a position to pay for O2's most expensive HTC Explorer tariff, you can enjoy unlimited calls and text messages every month for the duration of the 24 month contract as well as 1 GB of data every month. As an added bonus, selected retailers are even offering a generous £474 cashback and an Apple iPod Touch 32GB and a free accessory pack to those who choose this tariff.

As you can see, O2 has an array of different deals available on the HTC Explorer, and because all of the deals come with a free HTC Explorer handset it is an ideal network to choose if you are interested in the HTC Explorer.

Now that the Japanese tech giant has purchased its Swedish partner's shares, it is planning to get back in the game. It launched the XPERIA S this year at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2012 last January. Finally, the company now has a smartphone that can compete with the bigger fish in the market.

In the past, the smartphone maker has created a number of sound Android devices such as the XPERIA Play and the XPERIA Arc S. However, they are simply outmatched by the flagships other manufacturers have to offer. Samsung launched its highly popular dual-core handset the Galaxy S2. HTC has done the same with its Sensation. Apple soon followed with its most powerful handset to date with the iPhone 4S. Sony Ericsson's handsets were simply left far behind.

Now that the company is purely Japanese-owned, they are planning to make their mark with their next generation Android smartphones. This has become evident in the XPERIA S.

The handset is unlike any other handset in the company's roster. Like most of the flagships in the market today, it packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor under the hood. This is even more powerful, compared to the 1.2 GHz dual-core processor found within the Galaxy S2. It is as powerful as the HTC Sensation XE that comes with the same CPU.

When it comes to camera sensors, this Android device will not disappoint. It comes with a 12 megapixel rear-facing primary camera that can record videos at 1080p. This makes the smartphone only one of two smartphones in the market to sport megapixel counts of this amount. The only other smartphone with a camera as powerful is Nokia's N8. Sony's new smartphone also comes with a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. It can record videos at 720p.

Of course, one reason why people choose to get smartphones is not just all about hardware but looks as well. The XPERIA S definitely does not fall short when it comes to form factor. It sports a sleek and smooth look with a transparent band found on the bottom.

Sony has a lot riding on this new smartphone as well as their new releases this 2012. With the XPERIA, Sony plans to recapture the smartphone market.

iPhone 4S Now Has 12 Month Contract Deals From Tesco Mobile

Many consumers see iPhone 4S deals as expensive especially when the total price is worked out over the minimum term of the contract period which is usually either 24 or 18 months but Tesco have set out to change this.

Tesco Mobile have now launched 12 month deals for the iPhone 4S 16GB in black which will be music to the ears of those closely watching their expenditure, with a 12 month contract you will always pay a little more upfront but when calculated over the contract term these deals work out to be a lot less expensive than those on longer contract periods.

One of these new iPhone 4S deals will cost the consumer £35 per month for the line rental and an initial upfront price of £235 for the handset, this equates to £655 over the 12 month contract period which is a full £65 cheaper than the next best deal which is offered on the 3 Mobile network.

The 3 Mobile deal is actually for a free iPhone 4S at £30 per month but is on a 24 month contract, this equates to £720 over the two years. The Tesco deal includes 750 minutes, 5000 text messages (SMS) and a substantial 1GB of data whilst the 3 Mobile package offers only 300 minutes, the same volume of SMS but just 500MB of data.

There are pros and cons to both of these deals, the advantages of the Tesco Mobile deal are obvious with a minimum tie-in period, more minutes and data for your money and cheaper overall costs whilst the 3 Mobile deal may appeal to those who cannot afford an upfront payment for the phone.

Many consumers will also know that owning a mobile phone for a full two-year term can also throw up some difficulties, should something happen to the phone such as loss or breakage and there is no insurance to cover the handset then costs can spiral when having to replace the device.

This latest iPhone 4S deal offered by Tesco Mobile is currently the cheapest way to own the latest iPhone if you are willing to part with an upfront cost for the handset, many will be put off as Tesco is not seen as a major mobile network but in these times of austerity this may no longer be a deciding factor.

3 Mobile is also not the most trusted of network operators when buying a new phone, as the youngest of the five UK networks and complaints about customer service call centres based overseas consumers are wary and sometimes stick with what they know and trust.

Unfortunately, this Tesco Mobile deal is not currently available for the white edition of the iPhone 4S, this particular model has been experiencing stock issues with some of the major retailers for some time and in many cases has ended up being a more expensive option to settling for the black colour scheme.

In conclusion, buying an iPhone 4S with the Tesco deal mentioned above will no doubt save money for many consumers, not just in upfront costs but also on their monthly bills with the extra inclusive minutes and data.
