HTC Explorer Deals On O2 UK Offer The Handset For Free

The HTC Explorer may not be the most cutting edge smartphone out there, but it is well suited to those who simply want a functional smartphone which performs everyday tasks well. If you are looking to get your hands on this phone, you will be pleased to know that you can take out a contract with one of a number of UK networks, which will even include the phone for free. In this article I will look at the HTC Explorer deals offered by popular UK network O2.

O2 is a good choice when taking out a new HTC Explorer contract, as all their deals include the handset itself for free, meaning you will make a saving of £134.99 which is the cost of the SIM free handset. The cheapest deal currently offered by O2 will set you back just £10.50 per month (for 24 months) and this includes 50 minutes of free calls and 25 free text messages. For an extra £3 a month you can also get 100MB of data which allows you to use O2's 3G network to browse the internet. After you have used 100MB of data in a given month, the service will slow down considerably and standard data charges will apply.

If you are willing to pay a little extra every month, you can enjoy much more generous allowances. These include 600 minutes of free calls to any UK network at ay time, as well an unlimited text messages and a substantial monthly data allowance of 1GB per month. At 36 per month (for 24 months) this tariff makes a great choice for those who are frequent users of mobile internet, text messages and calls. Depending on the retailer through which the contract is purchased you can also enjoy free line rental for the first few months, ranging from 13 to 22 months.

If you are in a position to pay for O2's most expensive HTC Explorer tariff, you can enjoy unlimited calls and text messages every month for the duration of the 24 month contract as well as 1 GB of data every month. As an added bonus, selected retailers are even offering a generous £474 cashback and an Apple iPod Touch 32GB and a free accessory pack to those who choose this tariff.

As you can see, O2 has an array of different deals available on the HTC Explorer, and because all of the deals come with a free HTC Explorer handset it is an ideal network to choose if you are interested in the HTC Explorer.

Keep in Touch With the HTC Explorer Using the People Widget

Keep in touch with the HTC Explorer using the People widget that comes as part of the Sense user experience implemented through the power of the Android operating system respectively. The lightweight and compact handset which features a full touch display measuring 3.2 inches offers many features such as this widget for social networking and communicating with friends.

This is one of many widgets that can be downloaded from the Android Market and added to your handset. Widgets, are like mini applications, which can be placed on your home screen, any or all of the seven provided by this phone that is. Some widgets include messages, emails and the weather, while this widget lets you instantly communicate with contacts from a single tap of the touch display. This feature is also present on other handsets such as the HTC Rhyme.

Through this respective function on the Explorer, you can call, send a text message or email a favourite contact who appear automatically within the widget. If someone is not there, tap the plus sign onscreen to add a new contact to your favourites. Once you have set your favourite contact, you can finger tap their photo on the widget to set a default action. This is the action which will be performed when you select them using People. You can choose from viewing, calling any one of their numbers saved, sending a text message or emailing any of multiple email addresses input. Additionally, the feature offers a group icon which enables you to select multiple favourite contacts and message all of them, in just a few taps of your finger.

If you have a lot of favourites within the widget, you can drag it to the edit space which will allow you to rearrange which of your contacts appear first, so you can make sure the people you contact the most are always the fastest for you to get in touch with. As well as all of this, you can also add multiple copies of this feature, and set multiple groups on each of your home screens, maximising how you communicate.

With impressive features such as this along with the other social networking integration and functionality through its hardware such as the 3 megapixel main camera, the HTC Explorer is a great asset to carry around with you. Features such as this along with the many full applications enable you to do much more and faster from wherever you are.

An Overview Of The New HTC Explorer Device

Recently we have seen a range of new handsets released from HTC that cater for all areas of the market. We have seen the Sensation XL with its huge screen which is perfect for multi media users and also the HTC Rhyme which is an attractive phone aimed at the female audience. Now its the turn of the HTC Explorer, a handset pitched at people who have never owned a smartphone before.

The HTC Explorer is the new entry model in the HTC line up and will sit beneath the popular Wildfire S device in the brands range. The model aims to simplify the whole smartphone experience whilst still offering good performance and functionality. The design of the phone is pleasing and is very compact thanks to it offering a small 3.2 inch display. Rather than using the metallic back panel that is found on many of the premium models this handset offers a rubber finish which feels very comfortable when in use. Initially the handset will be available in a Black or a Blue finish but the back cover is interchangeable meaning colours can be easily swapped so expect more variations to be released. The handset is roughly the width and height of a credit card which is very appealing yet the reduced screen size may have its drawbacks when it comes to tasks such as web browsing where a little bit of extra size may have been handy.

One would not expect the HTC Explorer to match the likes of the Sensation XL and the Evo 3D for technical specification and it does not but it still offers enough to ensure that operation is both fast and satisfying. A 600Mhz processor is more than adequate to ensure the phone performs at a swift pace and when running a single task you can expect performance to be at a similar level to models such as the Wildfire S. If you do start to use the phones multi tasking features however this is where you may notice the handset slowing down a little, however somebody looking to purchase a phone on its multi tasking merits is unlikely to be looking at this model in the first place. A 3 million pixel camera is fitted so you can capture those random moments and picture quality is quite satisfactory in daylight although does suffer when darker scenes are photographed. Connectivity wise the model offers WiFi facilities together with 3G so you can be sure of a great web connection whether you are at home or on the move.

The HTC Explorer is the perfect first step into the world of Android and should strike a chord with certain areas of the market. With the festive period approaching this competitively priced model could prove a real success for HTC.

The HTC Explorer and the HTC Evo 3D are available now.
