An Overview Of New Products Due From Apple Including The iPhone 5

2012 is a potentially huge year for Apple with four exciting new products set to be rolled out over the coming months. Along with the iPad 3 and the eagerly anticipated iTV we are also likely to see the new iPhone 5 launched along with the new iOS5 operating system that all of these product will use. We have a brief look at what we can expect from these products when they are finally unveiled.

It looks likely that Apple will choose to launch the new iPad 3 before the new iPhone 5. This model is the successor to the popular iPad 2 tablet device and is set to incorporate some great new features. There are a huge range of tablets currently available however Apple are the market leaders in this area. The new device is set to incorporate a brand new screen which will double the resolution that was offered on the iPad 2. This 9.7 inch screen should be capable of displaying 2048 x 1536 pixels which means that the model will exceed what all other Tablet devices can offer for pixel density. It is also rumoured that this new device will sport the new A6 Chipset which will feature a quad core processor to ensure that operation speeds are lightning fast. Later in the year it is expected that we will see the first iTV system launched. Having established great success in the smartphone, tablet and computer markets Apple are turning the their attentions to launching their first television. The impressive Siri voice recognition software which was introduced on the iPhone 4S is likely to feature on the Television as is a touchscreen display which will allow users to navigate applications in a similar manner as they do on phones and tablets. Although screen size is not known yet reports suggest that the first iTV will feature a 42 inch display.

Perhaps the most eagerly awaited of Apples 2012 products is the iPhone 5. Just like the iPad 3 the phone is set to feature an improved screen with a higher resolution than what was offered on the iPhone 4S. Once again the new A6 chipset looks likely to be used which will make the phone one of the very first quad core devices. The phone will also be one of the first phones capable of connecting to the high speed 4G networks that will offer users the fastest mobile browsing experience. Apple are also set to launch version 5.0.1 of their iOS operating system which will be used by both the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3. Apple introduced some big changes when they released version 5.0 in September 2011 and it is likely that updates on this new platform are going to be more subtle. It is rumoured that the platform will be more energy efficient which means that both models will boast improved battery life. The Siri voice recognition software will also be updated to enable it to interact with the settings on the devices.

2012 is set to be yet another massive year for Apple. The iPhone 5 is the most anticipated product set to be launched but the iPad 3 and iTV are also set to attract lots of attention over the coming months.

The iPhone 5 is coming soon and the iPhone 4S is available now.

An Overview Of The New HTC Explorer Device

Recently we have seen a range of new handsets released from HTC that cater for all areas of the market. We have seen the Sensation XL with its huge screen which is perfect for multi media users and also the HTC Rhyme which is an attractive phone aimed at the female audience. Now its the turn of the HTC Explorer, a handset pitched at people who have never owned a smartphone before.

The HTC Explorer is the new entry model in the HTC line up and will sit beneath the popular Wildfire S device in the brands range. The model aims to simplify the whole smartphone experience whilst still offering good performance and functionality. The design of the phone is pleasing and is very compact thanks to it offering a small 3.2 inch display. Rather than using the metallic back panel that is found on many of the premium models this handset offers a rubber finish which feels very comfortable when in use. Initially the handset will be available in a Black or a Blue finish but the back cover is interchangeable meaning colours can be easily swapped so expect more variations to be released. The handset is roughly the width and height of a credit card which is very appealing yet the reduced screen size may have its drawbacks when it comes to tasks such as web browsing where a little bit of extra size may have been handy.

One would not expect the HTC Explorer to match the likes of the Sensation XL and the Evo 3D for technical specification and it does not but it still offers enough to ensure that operation is both fast and satisfying. A 600Mhz processor is more than adequate to ensure the phone performs at a swift pace and when running a single task you can expect performance to be at a similar level to models such as the Wildfire S. If you do start to use the phones multi tasking features however this is where you may notice the handset slowing down a little, however somebody looking to purchase a phone on its multi tasking merits is unlikely to be looking at this model in the first place. A 3 million pixel camera is fitted so you can capture those random moments and picture quality is quite satisfactory in daylight although does suffer when darker scenes are photographed. Connectivity wise the model offers WiFi facilities together with 3G so you can be sure of a great web connection whether you are at home or on the move.

The HTC Explorer is the perfect first step into the world of Android and should strike a chord with certain areas of the market. With the festive period approaching this competitively priced model could prove a real success for HTC.

The HTC Explorer and the HTC Evo 3D are available now.

Cloud Computing Overview

Answer:

The terms "cloud computing" and "working in the cloud" refer to performing computer tasks using services delivered entirely over the Internet. Cloud computing is a movement away from applications needing to be installed on an individual's computer towards the applications being hosted online. (The "cloud" refers to the Internet and was inspired by technical flow charts and diagrams, which tend to use a cloud symbol to represent the Internet.)

Web-based email services like Gmail and Hotmail deliver a cloud computing service: users can access their email "in the cloud" from any computer with a browser and Internet connection, regardless of what kind of hardware is on that particular computer. The emails are hosted on Google's and Microsoft's servers, rather than being stored locally on the client computer.

Over the last few years we've seen tremendous growth in cloud computing, as witnessed by the many popular Web apps used today, including: VoIP (e.g., Skype, Google Voice), social applications (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), media services (e.g., Picassa, YouTube, Flickr), content distribution (e.g., BitTorrent), financial apps (e.g., Mint), and many more. Even traditional desktop software, such as Microsoft Office, has moved in part to the Web, starting with its Office 2010 Web Apps.

The applications mentioned above refer to software solutions provided over the Internet, or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Other cloud computing services include virtual server storage (Infrastructure-as-a-Service or IaaS), such as Amazon Web Services, and software and product development tools (Platform-as-a-Service or PaaS), such as Google Apps.

Cloud services free businesses and consumers from having to invest in hardware or install software on their devices. They reduce maintenance and hardware upgrading needs; because the solutions are all Web-based, even older computers can be used to access cloud services.

For mobile workers especially, cloud computing provides incredible flexibility: professionals can work from any computing device anywhere as long as they have access to the Web. It also makes collaboration easier, since distributed teams (or a combination of mobile workers and in-office staff) can work on shared information stored centrally in the cloud via, for example, online groupware applications.

There are also some issues or obstacles to cloud computing. An Internet connection is obviously necessary to take full advantage of a cloud service. When you're offline--or if there are any disruptions with the cloud service itself--the data may not be accessible at all. (Some cloud apps, like Gmail, have offline capability; others, like Mint, require an Internet connection. The notetaking application, Evernote, offers a good in-between or hybrid solution, with both desktop/phone software and an online service that syncs your notes to the cloud.)

Another issue with cloud computing besides availability is security. Individuals and companies may not be comfortable storing information--especially proprietary or sensitive data--on someone else's server on the Internet.

The issues of trust and reliability will be critical for cloud services to resolve before everyone truly moves to the cloud. Assurances of encryption technologies, privacy protection, and solutions for offline accessibility should go far towards that end. For now, cloud computing's greatest beneficiaries may be remote workers, as Web-based apps empower us to be truly mobile and still accomplish our work.
