When it comes to churning out electrons, metal glass beats plastics

ScienceDaily (Nov. 21, 2011) — Field emission devices, which produce a steady stream of electrons, have a host of consumer, industrial, and research applications. Recent designs based on nanotubes and other nanomaterials embedded in plastics show initial promise, but have a number of drawbacks that hinder their wide-scale application.

The embedded nanotubes, which serve as the source for the electrons, also enable the normally inert plastic to conduct electricity. This has the desired effect of producing a versatile and easily manufactured field emission device. But since plastics are, by nature, poor conductors of electricity, they require a high concentration of nanomaterials to function. Plastics also have low thermal stability and do not hold up well under the excess heat produced by prolonged operation.

A team of researchers from Monash University in Australia, in collaboration with colleagues from CSIRO Process Science and Engineering, has developed a promising and easily manufactured replacement for plastics: amorphous bulk metallic glass (ABM). These ABM alloys form amorphous materials as they cool, giving them more of a glass-like behavior. In a paper accepted for publication in the AIP's journal Applied Physics Letters, the researchers used an alloy made from magnesium, copper, and gadolinium.

This metallic glass has many of plastics' desirable features. It can conform to a variety of shapes, be produced in bulk, and serve as an effective matrix for the nanotubes. Besides its high conductivity, the metallic glass' highly robust thermal properties mean that it can withstand high temperatures and still retain its shape and durability. According to the researchers, these advantages, alongside excellent electron emission properties, make these composites one of the best reported options for electron emission applications to date.

Though other composites of bulk metallic glass and carbon nanotubes have been reported before, this is the first time that such a system is being used for a functional device, such as for field emission. Electron microscopes, microwave or X-ray generation, nano-electronics, and modern display devices are all examples of the potential applications of this technology, the researchers note.

How Can Reverse Phone Number Lookup Help You Trace a Phone Call?

Reverse phone number search definitely is a powerful on-line tool to trace a phone call of your wife or husband. You may immediately get the identities of callers in your spouse's recent call history.

Is your spouse receiving plenty of cell phone calls from those you don't know? Is she or he appearing secretively during and after receiving a cellphone call? What if you find some very late night incoming calls residing in his/her cellphone call history log? Definitely, you need to discover the one who is calling your spouse. You can try to use a reverse telephone number look up service to help you.

In the past, it was quite easy to find the identification of the home phone callers. In case your phone can show the numbers of an incoming phone call, you may begin using white pages or phone directories to identify the identification of the callers. Now, it is difficult to identify the owners of mobile phone numbers. If you find you don't ever like the option of calling these telephone numbers and inquiring the callers who they're (it's considered shameful and high-risk), you may look for a reverse phone search service.

Using a reverse phone number lookup service may help you find the place and the identities of owners of some particular telephone numbers (home or cell phones). You can sign up to any of the accessible reverse phone look up service providers. These companies have relationship with many phone companies and cellular phone service providers within the United States. Those companies have the databases of landline, mobile, toll-free, fax, and unpublished numbers.

Probably you can purchase necessary information about the owner of a respective number. Besides the identity, you may also obtain the particular person's home address, and additional info such as a report of her or his residential members. Usually, it is not free to use the look up facility. You'll need to pay for enrolling to a reverse phone lookup service plan using bank card, PayPal, or other money transfer methods.

How can you use this type of search service plan? You need to enter the phone number you want to trace into the reverse look up site, and click "search" to run the reverse lookup. Then the following information will be provided rapidly: real place (city or state) the phone number is enrolled, the telephone is a landline or cellular phone, and some other information if available. Get yourself accessibility to such a look up service and then you will be able to investigate your spouse. Minimal annual fee is normally necessary.

You should not just sit there, merely keeping suspicious of your spouse. He or she may not be aware that you are tracing the phone calls he/she receives. Register for a reverse phone number search service now.

iPhone 5 Rumors After The Apple iPhone4S

iPhone 5 Rumors

Rumors are still abound regarding the release of iPhone 5 also commonly referred to as iPhone 4S. In reality, the rumors about iPhone 5 release have become rather a rage with the cell phone industry certain that the new phone will make its entrance in spring of 2012. Tech fanatics as well as Apple fans are fervently awaiting the release of iPhone 5, however Apple is still facing competition from other smart phone manufacturers such as HTC, Motorola and Samsung. Nokia in conjunction with Windows are expected to announce the debut of their first smartphone operating on Windows 7 operating system this fall. As rumors continue to fly around about the release of iPhone 5, let's take a sneak peak at some of the key features of iPhone 5 smartphone that may rattle the rest of the competition.

Product specifications 4G

4G has become the latest rage, especially amongst smartphone enthusiasts given that it provides them with fast internet access. Currently, mobile service providers AT&T plus Verizon are the only ones that are offering 4G services. Some of the rumors flying around are that Apple is deferring the release of iPhone 5 so as to make it a 4G handset to the carriers. But, there are also rumors that Apple may give Sprint the new iPhone.

Camera

Apple has made adjustment in the camera section by fitting the current iPhone 4 with a 5-megapixel camera along with LED flash. However, rumors are flying around that iPhone 5 may be fitted with an 8 megapixel camera. The lens to the phone will be supplied by either Sony or Omnivision.

Processor

There is an agreement in consumer electronic circles that Apple will introduce its dual-core A5 processor to the new iPhone 5 smartphone. The dual-core A5 chip is similar to the one used to power iPad 2. It is expected that the A5 processor will be in the range of 1.2 GHz to 1.5GHz given that numerous Android smartphones already have processor speeds of 1.2GHz. Plus, other smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung already have phones running dual-core processors. Other features that iPhone 5 smartphone are expected to have are HDMI-Out port, enhanced graphics, increased memory capacity of up to 64GB and an improved battery life. The current battery in the 4S has had it's problems and I'm sure this problem will be fixed and improved by the time of the release of the iPhone 5.

iPhone 4 Deals on 3 Mobile

The advent of the new iPhone 4S being released in the same casing as the iPhone 4 has left many consumers with the question of which iPhone model to buy, should they opt for the higher specification 4S with its larger price tag or save some money and order the iPhone 4?

The dedicated 3G network; 3 Mobile, has helped many stuck in this situation by offering the cheapest deal for a free iPhone 4 on its network, when it comes down to just price then 'The One Plan' tariff from 3 Mobile makes choosing between these two phones very easy.

Firstly, the cheapest deal for a free iPhone 4S 16GB currently stands at £41 per month, compare this with a free iPhone 4 on 3 Mobile at just £30 line rental and over the two-year contract period the consumer saves a massive £264.

The 3 Mobile deal includes a whopping 2000 minutes of calls which can be used at any time and to call any network, 5000 text messages, 5000 extra minutes to call other customers on 3 Mobile and most importantly of all an unlimited amount of data to use every month.

The closest any other network can get to this deal is at £31 per month from Vodafone which only includes 300 minutes, unlimited text and 500MB of internet access.

Secondly, the iPhone 4 now has many features of the new iPhone 4S thanks to a recent upgrade to its operating system with the new iOS5, this new software adds in around 200 new features and although not everything is exactly the same as in the 4S model much of it is present.

Another important factor in deciding which model of iPhone has literally been taken away by the manufacturers, whilst many consumers were expected the release of the iPhone 5 with a brand new design, the iPhone 4S has disappointed many by using exactly the same housing and not differentiating itself from the previous model.

This means that the average man on the street would not know which iPhone model a user had simply by looking at the exterior casing, it is not until the phone is in operation that the differences are revealed.

3 Mobile have helped enormously in answering the question of which iPhone to buy with their value for money tariffs, that said there will always be those fans of Apple that would opt for nothing less than the very latest model, regardless of the costs.

iPhone 4 Has Only One Deal Left on 3 Mobile

The 16GB edition of the Apple iPhone 4 is due to be discontinued soon alongside the iPhone 4 32GB and the dedicated 3G network; 3 Mobile have now stripped back the number of pay monthly contract deals available for the phone to just one.

Since its release the iPhone 4 has been available on multiple deals with 3 Mobile and proved very popular with consumers looking for value for money, the network is renowned for including more minutes, text and data in their tariffs than many competing networks.

Now the iPhone 4 16GB is only available on one last tariff for consumers leaving little choice but to connect the phone to a different network if the deal does not suit their usage requirements, the last remaining tariff is called the 'One Plan' which has actually been the most popular iPhone 4 deal over the past year.

This said, it may not suit everyone, especially those who do not use their phone regularly, the 'One Plan' tariff includes 2000 minutes which is a lot more than most users need, there are also 5000 text messages included as well as 3 Mobile's 'All You Can Eat' unlimited data allowance which has drawn many customers to the network.

All of this is available at just £30 per month line rental but there is a charge of £69 for the iPhone 4 upfront that many may not want to pay, no other network offers this amount of minutes, text and data for the same monthly charge so although this may be the last deal available for the iPhone 4 16GB on 3 Mobile it is still likely to be very popular until stocks run dry.

As previously mentioned, both the 16GB and 32GB editions of the iPhone 4 are to be discontinued and just the new 8GB version will continue to be made available to consumers, this new 8GB iPhone was released alongside the brand new iPhone 4S which as well as being available in 16GB and 32GB capacities is also offered in a new, larger 64GB memory format.

The new iPhone 4S is still demanding a high price tag as it was only released in October of this year, this may sway consumers to opt for the new iPhone 4 8GB model purely based on price as there is a full £100 (and sometimes more) difference in the overall cost of a pay monthly contract.

There is a chance that independent retailers will offer the older iPhone 4 16GB model on the 3 Mobile network in the future should imported or returned stock become available.

Record Sales Figures For The Super iPhone 4S

Nearly a week has passed since the iPhone 4S was released amidst o flurry of attention from both the media and the general public. It is now clear that despite some negative reports about this new phone it is still destined to become the best selling phone that Apple have ever released.

When initial reports about this model first surfaced the general consensus was that the phone was slightly disappointing. Both the industry and the public were expecting a brand new iPhone 5 complete with a new design on the body and this led many people to feel underwhelmed by the new arrival. Now the phone is generally available it seems that the handset is actually far more impressive than we had first thought with the upgraded specification and exciting new features such as Siri resulting in a near perfect user experience. The improvements present on the phone have resulted it clocking up some record sales figures within its first four days of release. The 4S was released in America, France, Japan, Germany, Canada, Germany and the UK on Friday the 14th of October and in that time a massive four million units have been sold. This more than doubles what the original iPhone 4 achieved on its release which at the time set new records. This figure looks set to increase by a huge amount when the phone is eventually released in a further 22 countries by the end of October.

Despite the initial negativity that surrounded the iPhone 4S it seems that customers who have actually purchased the model have fallen in love with some of the excellent new features that are on offer. The new A5 chipset that is incorporated in the phone has been lifted straight from the superb iPad 2 and its effect on the performance of this phone is massive. Thanks to the dual core 1Ghz processor even the most complex of tasks is performed at lightning speed whilst the extra power available on the Graphics Processing Unit gives developers much more scope for producing games that are more similar to a console experience than a typical mobile phone title. The other major difference which influences the day to day use of this model is the new iOS5 operating system which brings a host of new features to the user. These include the new iCloud sytem which can remotely back up all of your data and the Find My Friends facility which present you with a map and the current location of all of your friends.

We always knew that the iPhone 4S would be a popular model but nobody could have predicted the heights it would scale within a few days of its release. Much of this success is down to the excellent upgrades featured on the model including the user friendly iOS5 operating system and the powerful A5 chipset.

The iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 8GB are available now.

Decisions, Decisions - iPhone Repairs Can Be Trickier Than Ever

When it comes to getting an Apple device repaired such as an iPhone or an iPad sometimes it is hard to know what the right decision is because if you talk to most companies the only choice you have is to go to Apple themselves for iPhone repairs. This means that you wait for devices to be repaired on their time schedule and pay whatever amount they request of you leaving you very little room for negotiation. However, even if you are told that only the manufacturer themselves can help you out with problems, there are other places that you can turn to for simple iPod Touch repairs or iPhone repairs including simple fixes such as iPhone screen replacement.

As the years pass there are more and smaller companies that are realizing the importance of learning how to work on Apple models and therefore are capable with helping you with the repairs that you may need. Instead of suffering through a high price repair or suffering through dealing with a simple problem such as a cracked screen you can get help on iPhone repairs when you need them without waiting for the weeks on end that Apple makes you.

Even better, another reason to choose an independent repair company is the fact that when you do so you can trust that you will get your Apple product back in a timely fashion without having to pay for a replacement in the meantime. Sometimes Apple will make you pay a large deposit to get a replacement model such as a temporary mobile to use once you ship yours back to them. This means that you are without your phone and without a large chunk of money while you wait their long repair time.

To most people this seems like an unfair equation, but as Apple has held the monopoly on iPhone repairs for quite some time most people dealt with this equation without question. Now that there are more options for iPhone repairs however you should stop settling for less than you should get and enjoy getting your devices fixed in the timely fashion that you deserve without spending more on the repairs than you did on the original models.

By heading online you can easily find a large amount of companies that offer you expert iPhone repairs and even some that offer iTouch repairs. By surfing through the offers you can discern what the best choice is for you and where you will get the lowest prices on the repairs that you may need such as iPhone screen replacement. Once you choose a company you can send in your device and get it back quickly so that you can enjoy your high end purchase the way it was meant to be instead of the experience that you have been settling with for the last few years. This can also fetch you the benefit of home shopping, of course that is, if you find a reliable company to repair your iPhone first.

When it comes to apple iPhone repair service or apple iPhone glass repair service then you will not find anyone better than http://www.ifixphones.com.au/, and to get the best apple iPhone repair service you will have to click on the link and know more about their other services.

Blackberry Curve 9360 or Curve 9300 3G?

The extremely popular Blackberry Curve 9300 3G has now been upgraded with the release of the new Blackberry Curve 9360 but when it comes to contract deals and prices plus what exactly you get for your money, which of these two handsets should a consumer choose?

The older Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 is obviously now being sold at a cheaper price than the new 9360 edition but the extra cost of the newer handset brings with it the benefits of new technology, upgraded features and better functionality.

One of the biggest changes between these two Blackberry Curve phones is in the camera department with the newer 9360 model now sporting a 5.0 mega pixel camera with a flash compared with the 2.0 mega pixel lens of the original model.

Another drastic difference between these handsets is the inclusion of the latest Blackberry OS7 software in the Curve 9360 which is a vast improvement over the older OS6 and makes for a smoother and simpler user experience.

Other upgraded and new features include a far better resolution of the main screen, upgraded from 320 x 240 pixels to 480 x 360 pixels resulting in a far more sharp and clear display, NFC (Near Field Communication) has also now been added to the Blackberry 9360 which allows for mobile payments as well as wireless file sharing between compatible devices.

So with all of these improvements, just how much more does the newer model cost? Well, the original Blackberry Curve 9300 3G can now be ordered for as little as £10.50 line rental per month on O2 deals, this is the cheapest offer that includes a free phone.

Compare this with the cheapest deal including a free Blackberry Curve 9360 and consumers will need to part with £13.50 per month, that is an extra £72 over the minimum term contract period, this is also reflected in the SIM free cost of the handsets with a £70 price difference between the models.

The price difference is actually not a great amount in the whole scheme of the smart phones market, with handsets costing up to £699 for the likes of a SIM free iPhone 4S this small difference in price between these two Blackberry Curve phones is marginal.

Taking into consideration the amount of new technology, features and improvements that the consumer acquires with the new Blackberry 9360 the extra £3 line rental per month is a very small price to pay and will fit into many consumers budget.

To see the full range of Blackberry 9360 deals or to take a look at the new Blackberry 9810 deals please feel free to browse our website: Phones Limited.

New revolutionary material can be worked like glass

ScienceDaily (Nov. 18, 2011) — A common feature of sailboards, aircraft and electronic circuits is that they all contain resins used for their lightness, strength and resistance. However, once cured, these resins can no longer be reshaped. Only certain inorganic compounds, including glass, offered this possibility until now. Combining such properties in a single material seemed impossible until a team led by Ludwik Leibler, CNRS researcher at the Laboratoire "Matière Molle et Chimie" (CNRS/ESPCI ParisTech), developed a new class of compounds capable of this remarkable feat. Repairable and recyclable, this novel material can be shaped at will and in a reversible manner at high temperature.

And, quite surprisingly, it also retains certain properties specific to organic resins and rubbers: it is light, insoluble and difficult to break. Inexpensive and easy to produce, this material could be used in numerous industrial applications, particularly in the automobile, aeronautics, building, electronics and leisure sectors. This work is published on 18 November 2011 in Science.

Replacing metals by lighter but just as efficient materials is a necessity for numerous industries, such as aeronautics, car manufacturing, building, electronics and sports industry. Due to their exceptional mechanical strength and thermal and chemical resistance, composite materials based on thermosetting resins are currently the most suitable. However, such resins must be cured in situ, using from the outset the definitive shape of the part to be produced. In fact, once these resins have hardened, welding and repair become impossible. In addition, even when hot, it is impossible to reshape parts in the manner of a blacksmith or glassmaker.

This is because glass (inorganic silica) is a unique material: once heated, it changes from a solid to a liquid state in a very progressive manner (glass transition), which means it can be shaped as required without using molds. Conceiving highly resistant materials that can be repaired and are infinitely malleable, like glass, is a real challenge both in economic and ecological terms. It requires a material that is capable of flowing when hot, while being insoluble and neither as brittle nor as "heavy" as glass.

From ingredients that are currently available and used in industry (epoxy resins, hardeners, catalysts, etc.), researchers from the Laboratoire "Matière Molle et Chimie" (CNRS/ESPCI ParisTech) developed a novel organic material made of a molecular network with original properties: under the action of heat, this network is capable of reorganizing itself without altering the number of cross-links between its atoms. This novel material goes from the liquid to the solid state or vice versa, just like glass. Until now, only silica and some inorganic compounds were known to show this type of behavior. The material thus acts like purely organic silica. It is insoluble even when heated above its glass transition temperature.

Remarkably, at room temperature, it resembles either hard or soft elastic solids, depending on the chosen composition. In both cases, it has the same characteristics as thermosetting resins and rubbers currently used in industry, namely lightness, resistance and insolubility. Most importantly, it has a significant advantage over the latter as it is reshapeable at will and can be repaired and recycled under the action of heat. This property means it can undergo transformations using methods that cannot be envisaged either for thermosetting resins or for conventional plastic materials. In particular, it makes it possible to produce shapes that are difficult or even impossible to obtain by molding or for which making a mold is too expensive for the envisaged purpose.

Used as the basis of composites, this new material could therefore favorably compete with metals and find extensive applications in sectors as diverse as electronics, car manufacturing, construction, aeronautics or printing. In addition to these applications, these results shed unexpected light on a fundamental problem: the physics of glass transition.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Sales Impressive And Set To Be Boosted By 2 New Models

There have been several superb mobile phones released over the past year but none have managed to eclipse the global success that has been achieved by the Samsung Galaxy S2. This high specification model has proved a hit across the globe thanks to a blend of cutting edge technology together with a slim and stylish look.

Since its release in April 2011 the Galaxy S2 has helped its predecessor the Galaxy S to achieve 30 million sales between them. In September it was announced that the S2 had already reached the 10 million mark and since that report the phone has been released in the US with plenty of media publicity. Main US networks AT&T, Sprint and T Mobile all offered packages on the phone and this has resulted in a further boost in sales figures for this popular model. Despite the popularity of the S2 the original Galaxy S is still selling well as a lower priced alternative. "Since its launch only five months ago, GALAXY S2 has seen tremendous sales success and garnered enthusiastic reviews from consumers and mobile industry watchers across the globe," said JK Shin, president of Samsung mobile communications. "This is in addition to the continued sales momentum behind GALAXY S, which we launched at Mobile World Congress 2010 as continues to be a run-away success with consumers.". And it seems the popularity of the Galaxy name is set to continue with the release of two new handsets in the range.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 will continue to run as the brands mains smartphone but it is joined by new arrivals in the shape of the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy R. The Galaxy Note is a larger screened version of the S2 that will strike a chord with multi media lovers but not replace the model as a mainstream hit thanks to its massive size. Boasting a 5.3 inch display the phone is almost a hybrid between a phone and a tablet device which offers massive advantage in areas such as video playback and gaming but lacks the portability of other models in the range. A powerful 1.4 Ghz processor ensures the model performs at lightning fast speeds and an 8 million pixel camera means the device will appeal to camera enthusiasts. The Samsung Galaxy R will sit slightly lower than the Galaxy S2 in the range a prove a great option for anybody looking for the smartphone experience at a more budget price. The phone features a 1Ghz processor together with a high quality 4.2 inch display. Media wise the phone offers a 5 million pixel main camera and a 2 mega pixel front facing camera perfect for self portraits and video calling.

It is easy to see why the Samsung Galaxy S2 has been such a runaway success. The addition of the two new models to the range will further cement the Galaxy's position as the ultimate smartphone family.

iPhone or Windows Phone? Which One Is Practical and Good for Business?

High-end mobile phones, also commonly known as smartphones, are increasingly becoming relevant to businesses. It is not uncommon for companies to align their business and software strategies with the technology developments, of which smartphone use is one of the reigning trends. Given their greater built-in functionalities, smartphones make it easier for everyone in the business arena - from the primary decision makers to the working professionals - to do and accomplish things quicker.

Smartphones have become a constant companion of CEOs and workers alike who want to keep themselves organized without having to carry a bunch of bulky gadgets. These days, handsets are "smart" enough to offer flexibility with tasks such as taking and reviewing notes; setting appointments; or reviewing documents and contracts - all while its user is on the move.

Smartphone functionalities that have been proven to be highly usable for enterprises include map access, satnavs and information sharing features, all of which have become indispensable tools for international business marketing, while taking entrepreneurs a step ahead of their daily schedules.

Quite expectedly, smartphone use has seen an upsurge in recent months, indicating an unrelenting expansion of the smartphone market. Global leader in information and data measurement Nielsen reports that 62% of handset-using adults aged 25 to 34 own and use smartphones.

A related report fresh from research and advisory firm Gartner points out in the third quarter of 2011, mobile device unit sales reached 440.5 million globally, showing an increase of 5.6 percent from the same period in 2010.

The "Business-friendlier" Smartphone

With smartphone adoption in the enterprise gaining its momentum, dominant archrivals iPhone and Windows Phone 7 or WP7 are parading their capabilities, seemingly outwitting each other in terms of features and design.

The first iPhone device was by introduced by Steve Jobs in 2007, and released on the same year. The smartphone's 5th generation - the iPhone 4S - was introduced on the 4th of October 2011. On the same week, Apple's OS for handheld gadgets - iOS 5.0 - was also launched.

Legions of enterprise-class users have been attracted to Apple, with developers making the iPhone much more durable and affordable. Apple's iPhone, especially its latest 4S device, offers apps for various business needs, while sporting a trendy design. It flaunts Siri, the intelligent voice recognition feature that has been integrated into the iPhone 4S core.

In an extravagant launch on November 7, 2011, Microsoft unveiled its very own Windows Phone 7 or WP7 in Manhattan, flaunting its capabilities. Seemingly targeting to follow the dominance of Windows in the desktop arena, WP7 is out to thwart the iPhone craze.

Tech research organization PCWorld notes that while Windows Phone 7 seems to be in "an underdog position" against competitors like Apple and Google, IT managers in the enterprise are gravitating towards the device simply because it offers compatibility with software and tools from Microsoft, the leader in enterprise software.

In a differing review, InfoWorld, a leading info resource on emerging business technologies, notes that while WP7 has a stunning and intuitive user interface, it falls short of its competitor iPhone - which amasses a world of capabilities. The review points out that the WP7 does not support Adobe Flash Player and websites that are HTML5-based, which are essential platforms and tools for businesses. On the other hand, the iPhone 4 supports nearly all except for Flash. As such, the said InfoWorld review underscores that WP7 may be a slick gadget, but it cannot be as business-friendly as the iPhone is.

The battle of smartphones, as unofficially dubbed by tech watchers, is still in its infancy. Game-changing as they are, these devices are revolutionizing business and software strategies in the enterprise environment with features that elevate the way people do business.

International business marketing, when paired properly with first-rate business and software strategies, can be a great tool for enterprise success. It has the capability to bridge gaps between an organization and its clients.

Cell Tower Electromagnetic Radiation Plumes and Biological Life on Earth Considered

The human biosystem works on vibrational energy at the cellular level, but humans aren't much different when it comes to their cellular makeup than other living species. Frequency pollution is a real problem in our society and it will become even a greater challenge off into the future. Think of it for a second, everywhere you go there is frequency pollution; Wi-Fi, cellphones, microwaves, sensors, radar, and cell towers. All of these things cannot be good for your body, or for the bodies of any other species on this planet.

There was a rather alarming article on the Dark Government "conspiracy theorist" website not long ago, posted on October 25, 2011 titled "Cellphone EMR and Life Don't Mix" and just reading that title, I agree, at least I agree they don't mix now. I also believe there might be a solution to all this. Okay so, let's talk shall we?

First that particular article stated; "To prevent overlapping high radiation fields, new towers should not be permitted within a radius of one kilometre of existing towers."

Secondly, the article noted that scientists are quite concerned, as am I, and that; "Of the 919 studies, a staggering 593 showed the negative impact of mobile towers on birds, bees, humans, wildlife, and plants. The experts even cited an international study that pinpointed cellphone towers as a potential cause in the decline of animal populations. They went on to say that there was an urgent need to focus more scientific attention on the subject before it was too late."

Now then, there's something else I'd like you to consider, and that is the effect of the interacting plumes of electromagnetic radiation. All of these waves propagating from different places create rogue waves, and we pass through those all the time. This will take a toll on the health of the nation, and the worst part about it is we won't know the dire health consequences for 20 years or more.

In fact the first signs of problems will begin to show up in the next few years. This is because cell towers, wireless networks, and other such electronic devices have been pervasive for at least 20 years or so. Today the amount of frequency pollution is extremely high, much higher than it has ever been in known history.

It would seem to me that it is rather impossible for there not to be some affect. In some cases a little frequency pollution might actually be okay, but overall I'd say it's a net negative. Unfortunately, we are about to find out, and therefore we should do more studies, and be truthful and honest with the findings.

Just because the findings might hurt the future of the communication industry, the computer industry, or some other industry does not mean we should hide data or pretend the problem doesn't exist. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Samsung Galaxy Y Gets a White Colour Scheme

Samsung's recent renaming of their entire range of smart phones now categorises each model according to which market it is aimed at, a new 'Y' series handset has just been released aimed at the youth market and has now received a white makeover.

The new white edition of the Samsung Galaxy Y joins the original black edition of the handset and is an Android powered smart phone that is remarkably affordable, leaving their 'Corby' range of feature phones firmly in the background Samsung have replaced these with the new 'Y' range and instead of paying for feature phones these are fully fledged smart phones.

This means that the latest Samsung Galaxy Y offers the same great features found in top of the range handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy Note thanks to the inclusion of the latest Android 2.3 operating system known as Gingerbread.

This operating software allows access to over half a million new applications, games, content and entertainment services from the ever expanding Android Market which can be downloaded directly to the phones expandable memory via both Wi-Fi and speedy 3.5G data support.

The Samsung Galaxy Y offers a 3.0 inch touch screen for zooming through the multiple home screens, navigating the saved applications and viewing pictures and video clips captured on its 2.0 mega pixel camera, running on a 832MHz processor with its smaller display than higher specification devices means that the phone operates smoothly and applications load and run smoothly.

The new Samsung Galaxy Y white edition has now been released on the O2 network in the UK and has been made available free of charge on every single pay monthly contract deal, these start at just £15.50 per month on a 24 month package with 100 inclusive minutes and 500 text messages but no inclusive internet access.

Why It's Good To Recycle Mobile Phones

Over the last decade, the use of mobile phones has surged with the introduction of various technologies that make everyday life more convenient. Today, cellular phones are not longer just for making calls. While they still retain their function as a traditional communication device, cellular phones these days have improved so much that they've actually become extensions of people's lives. This is essentially a good thing but in keeping with the demand for cellular phones, manufacturers have been steadily releasing model after model, sometimes not even letting a year pass before introducing an improved version of an iteration of their last model.

Of course, people will always want to have the newest gadgets so it's not surprising that people will still go out and get a new cellular phone even though they have a perfectly working one. This then causes a surplus of mobile devices that are no longer used, posing a major threat to the environment when not properly disposed. This is where learning to recycle mobile devices come in handy. By learning to recycle mobile devices, electronic waste, also known as mobile devices thrown out, is disposed off according to environmental protection standards. This means that less chemicals from electrical components will seep in the groundwater, keeping the water safe for consumption and use.

But what if you have a perfectly working phone (you just don't want it anymore)? And you don't have anyone else who would want it? It would seem that learning to recycle handheld phones is the last option available to you. Don't worry though because it's not. The process will more or less be the same as learning to recycle handheld phones but the difference is that you can sell your handheld phone for cash. Learning to recycle handheld phones just entails proper disposal of your electronics so you won't be compensated for cash.

You can go about selling your handheld device for cash mainly by going online because there are a lot of handheld device recycling sites like Envirophone on the internet. To get the best price for your handheld device though, make sure you compare. Since more and more people are turning to selling their handheld devices for cash, comparison sites have also sprung up to help you in comparing recycling sites faster. The sooner you compare, the sooner you can find the best rate, the sooner you can sell your cell phone for cash, and the sooner you can enjoy your cash for whatever purposes you have in mind.

Some people are looking to sell their mobile phones to get cash to upgrade to a better handset. Some people are just looking to sell their cell phones to get extra cash. Whatever you reasons may be, you are free to take advantage of this service. Not only will you be getting cash for your mobile phone, but you also have a certain degree of participation in caring for the environment. Should you have an old mobile phone model, you can still just simply send your handset for disposal even though you won't receive cash for it. Doing so is free of charge anyway.

Have a look on how to recycle mobile phones or check out one of the leading brands envirophone.

The Many Uses Of Mobile Spy Software

There always comes a time when we cannot fully trust the ones close to us. Sometimes, extra measures must be taken to be fully aware. If you want to monitor your children or employees, installing mobile spy software is your best answer.

Mobile spy software has many uses. Its applications are endless too. Here are the two uses for this program.

Mobile Spy Software for Children

Children these days cannot live without cell phones. Parents prefer that their kids have one so that they are reachable anytime. This is useful when kids are always out of the house.

This software is a good way to check what is done with the phone. Since SMS messages and calls are visible through the program, you would know if something is up. You will also find out if there is any trouble thanks to the program.

Mobile spy software will also relay to you any photos or videos that are taken on the targeted device. You can use this program to find out the interests of your child. This is a great help if you want to improve your relationship with them. This program allows you to see pictures taken, applications installed and many more. If the child is interested in bad things, you will then be able to intervene and confront them using the program's logs. You will also be able to see if they are where they say they are with the program's GPS location feature.

Mobile Spy Software for Employees

Some companies offer phones as bonuses for employees. Aside from being a good gesture, it is also a good way to know if those employees are being honest if the phone has mobile spy software installed.

This new software is perfect for tracking employees who call in sick or are out on an errand. The program is able to track down the location of the phone and pinpoint it on a map. The mobile spy software will tell if they are telling the truth when calling in sick or are goofing around when out on an errand or if they are working away from the office.

This mobile spy software is also great for discovering feedback about the management. Since the software can log all the SMS sent and received by the employee, you will be able to determine how satisfied your workers are and any anxieties they have. This is one way that the program can help improve the workplace for both employers and employees.

Using this program, you will see any scandals that occur at work. If fights or harassment occur and is recorded, you will see it first-hand using this program. The program also retains the information even if it is deleted off of the device.

Lastly, mobile spy software also shows you the usage on the company phone. Since the company pays both phone and carrier, it makes sense to monitor the phone using mobile spy software and check if it is used for company purposes.

iPhone 4S Pay Monthly Contract Deals Price Drop

The recently released Apple iPhone 4S which has now taken over from the iPhone 4 demands a high price when it comes to buying this latest Apple phone with a pay monthly contract deal, the iPhone 4S has now been available to buy for over 3 weeks and finally consumers are able to take advantage of a recent price drop.

iPhone 4S deals represent some of the most expensive offers currently available when compared with similar handsets from rival manufacturers, on release this latest iPhone could not be ordered for less than a staggering £46 line rental per month with a 24 month contract deal.

Now that the independent retailers are starting to receive their own iPhone 4S stocks they are able to put together bespoke deals based on their established profit margins which is now helping to reduce the price of the iPhone 4S with contract deals.

The first discount came when the line rental dropped from the above mentioned £46 down to £43 for a free phone which was (and still is) offered by the 3 Mobile network, this then dropped again when Vodafone started offering the iPhone 4S free of charge on a £41 per month contract.

The good news is that these pay monthly offers for the latest Apple phone are continuing to be discounted and the lowest line rental price consumers can currently expect to pay for a free iPhone 4S has now dropped further to £40.85 on the T-Mobile network.

All of the above quoted deals are for a free phone which means they are not actually the cheapest offers over the minimum term contract length, these consumers have to pay an upfront fee for.

The current cheapest deal for an iPhone 4S 16GB requires the customer to part with £309.99 upfront and commit to a line rental of £20 per month on the Orange iPhone 20 tariff, this equates to £789.99 total expenditure over the contract period compared with £980.40 for the previously mentioned best deal with a free phone at £40.85 over 2 years.

Many consumers are choosing the deals that offer the iPhone 4S free of charge simply because of the cost of the upfront investment, with the current economic climate effecting many families spare income they are choosing to pay extra over the term of their contract agreements rather than part with a large cost upfront.

If you would like to check out the latest iPhone 4S deals or take a look at iPhone 4 deals as they are discounted then please feel free to browse our website: Phones Limited.

Mask-bot: A robot with a human face

ScienceDaily (Nov. 7, 2011) — Robotics researchers in Munich have joined forces with Japanese scientists to develop an ingenious technical solution that gives robots a human face. By using a projector to beam the 3D image of a face onto the back of a plastic mask, and a computer to control voice and facial expressions, the researchers have succeeded in creating Mask-bot, a startlingly human-like plastic head. Yet even before this technology is used to give robots of the future a human face, it may well soon be used to create avatars for participants in video conferences.

The project is part of research being carried out at CoTeSys, Munich's robotics Cluster of Excellence.

Mask-bot can already reproduce simple dialog. When Dr. Takaaki Kuratate says "rainbow," for example, Mask-bot flutters its eyelids and responds with an astoundingly elaborate sentence on the subject: "When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act like a prism and form a rainbow." And when it talks, Mask-bot also moves its head a little and raises its eyebrows to create a knowledgeable impression.

What at first looks deceptively like a real talking person is actually the prototype of a new robot face that a team at the Institute for Cognitive Systems (ICS) at TU München has developed in collaboration with a group in Japan. "Mask-bot will influence the way in which we humans communicate with robots in the future," predicts Prof. Gordon Cheng, head of the ICS team. The researchers developed several innovations in the course of creating Mask-bot.

The projection of any number of realistic 3D faces is one of these. Although other groups have also developed three-dimensional heads, these display a more cartoon-like style. Mask-bot, however, can display realistic three-dimensional heads on a transparent plastic mask, and can change the face on-demand. A projector positioned behind the mask accurately beams a human face onto the back of the mask, creating very realistic features that can be seen from various angles, including the side.

Many comparable systems project faces onto the front of a mask -- following the same concept as cinema projection. "Walt Disney was a pioneer in this field back in the 1960s," explains Kuratate. "He made the installations in his Haunted Mansion by projecting the faces of grimacing actors onto busts." Whereas Walt Disney projected images from the front, the makers of Mask-bot use on-board rear projection to ensure a seamless face-to-face interaction.

This means that there is only a twelve centimeter gap between the high-compression, x0.25 fish-eye lens with a macro adapter and the face mask. The CoTeSys team therefore had to ensure that an entire face could actually be beamed onto the mask at this short distance. Mask-bot is also bright enough to function in daylight thanks to a particularly strong and small projector and a coating of luminous paint sprayed on the inside of the plastic mask. "You don't have to keep Mask-bot behind closed curtains," laughs Kuratate. This part of the new system could soon be used in video conferences. "Usually, participants are shown on screen. With Mask-bot, however, you can create a realistic replica of a person that actually sits and speaks with you at the conference table. You can use a generic mask for male and female, or you can provide a custom-made mask for each person," explains Takaaki Kuratate.

In order to be used as a robot face, Mask-bot must be able to function without requiring a video image of the person speaking. A new program already enables the system to convert a normal two-dimensional photograph into a correctly proportioned projection for a three-dimensional mask. Further algorithms provide the facial expressions and voice.

To replicate facial expressions, Takaaki Kuratate developed a talking head animation engine -- a system in which a computer filters an extensive series of face motion data from people collected by a motion capture system and selects the facial expressions that best match a specific sound, called a phoneme, when it is being spoken. The computer extracts a set of facial coordinates from each of these expressions, which it can then assign to any new face, thus bringing it to life. Emotion synthesis software delivers the visible emotional nuances that indicate, for example, when someone is happy, sad or angry.

Mask-bot can realistically reproduce content typed via a keyboard -- in English, Japanese and soon German. A powerful text-to-speech system converts text to audio signals, producing a female or male voice, which can then set to quiet or loud, happy or sad, all at the touch of a button.

But Mask-bot is not yet able to understand much of the spoken word. It can currently only listen and make appropriate responses as part of a fixed programming sequence. However, this is not something that is restricted to Mask-bot alone. A huge amount of research worldwide is still being channeled into the development of programs that enable robots to listen and understand humans in real time and make appropriate responses. "Our established international collaboration is therefore more important than ever," explains Kuratate.

The CoTeSys group has chosen a different route to researchers who use dozens of small motors to manipulate individual facial parts and reproduce facial expressions. Mask-bot will be able to combine expression and voice much faster than slower mechanical faces. The Munich researchers are already working on the next generation. Mask-bot 2 will see the mask, projector and computer control system all contained inside a mobile robot. Whereas the first prototype cost just under EUR 3,000, costs for the successor model should come in at around EUR 400. Besides video conferencing, "These systems could soon be used as companions for older people who spend a lot of time on their own," continues Kuratate.

Mask-bot is the result of collaboration with AIST, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan.

Before Apple Came Along and Completely Changed the Mobile Industry

Mobile phones users had the option to pick either a phone that looked good like the Nokia 8800 series or a device which had everything on paper, but the reality was you could only ever get 50% of the functions to work.

Apple saw the gap in the market getting bigger and bigger, and absolutely exploited it. Apple managed to bring to life everything the techies of us wanted, which could function with ease, at the same time bringing the fashion and image focused consumers into the world of different applications.

The arrogance of some manufactures, meant they where ignoring the consumers needs and this left some of them playing a very long and difficult game of catch up.

When Apple launched the iPhone they completely filled this gap, leaving very little room for anyone else. However they also took this one step further with some key features which had never been seen on a handset, and still remains iconic unique selling points about the devices.

Hats of to Apple
When Apple launched the first iPhone in the UK, they made it very clear this was going to be the premium product of the industry.

They Only allowed new connections to 02 network and made some difficult decisions to only sell via outlets like Car phone warehouse, however the brand launch was outstanding, and even though some key features missing i.e. Bluetooth and 3g Apple soon became the one to beat.

Apple Today lead the way in new innovation and constantly look to build on the iPhones success to make it the must had device. Apple have always focused on image and having great looking products and the iPhone has to be one of if not the best looking phone on the market. Now with the latest release of the new iPhone 4S they look to storm the market again this year by breaking more records, iPhones are now the most anticipated phones on the market and even with the amazing cheap mobile phone deals that are out there these days people still chose iPhones making more and more popular every year.

With the iPhone launch making Apple more popular it also increased the attention for it's laptop and desktop range, capitalizing on this they've also launched the iPad2 which means they're really taking the technology on the go market by storm making themselves total market leaders, way above all their competitors.

How To Manage a Media Player On Your Android Phone

There's been a constant criticism that Android powered smartphones don't have a desktop interface similar to iTunes, but the truth is that Android devices can comfortably sync to Windows Media Player in more or less the same manner as the iPad and iPhone. If you use Windows regularly then you can be able to transfer music your PC and your phone.

Android devices are intended to be self-reliant and that's why you will be pardoned to think that your droid is not syncing with Windows as they do not ever depend on desktop synchronization. In fact, they sync to windows similar to any other media player. Provided you set the smartphone suitably, you can drag files about in Windows Media Player and sync media libraries between your PC and your Android phone automatically.

If you're connecting your Android for the first time, you will most likely see a small autorun dialog box that will prompt you to install the drivers for your smartphone or possibly a small assistant app that is preloaded on your phone. Depending on the phone's manufacturer, the method may be different.

Look out for any prompts asking you to download and install other software from your wireless carrier. Such apps are not good since their work it to mainly grasp any extra penny from users and not really to help sync your phone to your PC. Close any browser tabs that come up with invitations to download the junk. You will see a control window panel for your phone once you finish the installation.

If the Windows Control Panel doesn't appear, go to 'Devices and Printers' and check for your handset's listing there. On the device control panel, there are a couple of options for managing the contents: 'Manage media on your device', 'Browse files', 'Import pictures and videos' and 'change general settings.' Other devices have additional options but those are the important ones. Apps for managing music and photos will be automatically set as default by Windows but if you wish to make changes you will just click change program under each option. For this process allow the Windows Media Player and Windows Live Photo Gallery to be defaults.

To transfer pictures and videos you have on your phone's gallery double click import pictures and videos. Windows will by default search the camera roll of your phone. You can input tags if you want and then click OK to commence the import. To delete files from your camera, check the box or keep them by leaving the box unchecked just like with any other digital cameras. An Explorer window will open to display what you have transferred once you are through with importing.

Music that is not in your Windows music library but in your phone can be also transferred through to selecting your device from the list on the left plane; select music and then highlight and drag all the files into a box marked 'Drag items here.' Transfer them by clicking on Start sync.

Once you are through with moving the files, right click the drop down menu under Sync tab and on the right side of the window click set up sync. This will open a new window that may prompt you to choose the way data already in your device will be handled. To avoid Media Player from cleaning out your phone's data card, select the option where your data will be left on your device. On the subsequent screen name the device and then click finish to kick off the sync. You will now see the media collection on your Android phone equal your library. From there every time you connect your Android smartphone to your PC, if there any changes in either of the libraries, Windows Media Player will update as dimmed necessary.

How Spying on a Cell Phone Works

Cell phone spying involves two parts or two pieces of a puzzle. The first part is the actual spying software program itself. This part of the cell phone spy gets installed to the mobile device you want to spy on.

The second piece of the puzzle is a web server. A web server is really nothing more than a website. Both of these pieces of the mobile spying puzzle work together to enable you to spy on someone's mobile phone. When the phone you are spying on does something that is spy worthy, such as making or receiving a call, sending or receiving a text message etc., the software part of the phone spy makes a copy of this information and sends it to the web server part. The purpose of the web server part is so you have somewhere to go to view details of the phone you are spying on.

The software part of the phone spy that is on the target phone is actually very simple from a programmers point of view. The language that is used to program and create applications for cell phones is event driven. What this means is when an event occurs software code gets executed that does something. The following are some of the real names of real cell phone events where programming code can be inserted

Incoming CallOutgoing CallIncoming SMSOutgoing SMSGPS Coordinate ChangeURL VisitedEmail SentEmail Received

Phone spy software program code is inserted in each of these events. Any time one of these events is executed the software program merely reports parameters of these events to the mobile spy web server. Parameter is just a fancy word which means details. For example parameters of the Incoming Call event include time, length of call, and phone number. So when the mobile phone being spied on receives a phone call it triggers the spy software code in the Incoming Call event. When this event is executed the spy software program relays to the web server the time of the call, length of the phone call (how long the phone call lasts), and the phone number that called the phone you are spying on.

When you log on to your mobile phone spy members area to view the spy details of the phone you are conducting your surveillance on you are merely viewing what the software part of the spy program has communicated to and relayed to the web server members area.

The reason I say a mobile phone spy program is one of the simplest pieces of software to write is because in reality a cell phone spy program doesn't really do anything. Most phone applications have to manipulate data and manipulate the phone. A cell phone spying program doesn't manipulate anything. A mobile spyware app merely communicates parameters of the event that is triggered when phone calls are made or received or text messages are sent or received, etc.

When it comes to mobile phone spyware software there are about 15 of these programs. I am very surprised at the large percentage of them that have programming bugs and problems considering how simple a cellular spy software program is and how easy it is to create one.

Probably the most difficult aspect of creating applications for cell phones is the wide range of different types of mobile phones out there with different operating systems such as Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone, and Blackberry in addition to operating systems classified as 'other' which are usually the type of operating system you find on prepaid contract free cell phones. With these pre paid phones you would have to use a remote spyware program for mobile devices such as cell control.

How cell phone spying works is really not that complicated. Assuming you choose the right spy software for the mobile device you want to spy on you should be able to do so without any problems or issues whatsoever.

The Mobile Phone Spying website will show you every single cell phone spy software program there is for every phone including the one that can be installed to an unlimited number of cell phones. Enter the phone you want to spy on in the search box, click search, and in seconds you are shown a page of every single cell spy software app that is 100% compatible with that exact cell phone. You can also ask any question you wish about cell phone spying using the free instant support box and expect a reply to your mobile spy question in hours, not days. Visit the Cell Spy Reviews which has details and information on 15 different cell phone spy programs including their features, costs, and download links.

How To Create An App For Your iPhone

Do you want to create your own iPhone app? Do you have this amazing idea that you cannot even sleep when you think about it? Then why not ring your app idea to life and create your own iPhone app? It is really easy so long as you know what to do. Here is a simple guide you can use to get your own iPhone app into the Apple Store.

1) Things to Think About Before You Create Your App:

But before you take the leap, there are some things you must remember. An iPhone app idea needs to be something that will appeal to a particular segment of the market. Some of the most successful apps out there usually appeal to a market like athletes, cooks, moms or others.

Second, your app must be able to solve a particular problem. People need a reason to download your app and more so if they need to pay for it. Your app must meet a need and they must be desperate for it. If you can find a need that your app idea can meet, then you are off to big profits.

Third, make sure that your app idea is unique. There is nothing more terrible than simply repeating an app idea. Apple will simply deny your app if they have found other apps out there that is similar to it. So be sure to check the Apple store to see if your idea is unique.

2) Getting Your App Out There:

Now that you have set things straight, it is now time to create your app. You can begin by registering in the Apple iPhone Developer Program. You need to be in the program if you want to release your app in the Apple store. You need to pay $99 though. But it is not really a big amount considering the profits you can make from your app afterwards.

After registering, you need to start designing your app. You can do this by pulling a piece of paper and start sketching. iPhone app developers usually sketch the screens and how the app will flow from one screen to another. They sketch the buttons and how everything will look like. This will get your ideas off your head and put them on paper. It will also help your coder and designer understand your ideas better.

Once you have finished sketching, you may need to have constant meetings with your designer and coder to see how things are going. It will be a long process but it will be worth it.

Once the app is finished, you need to start promoting it. If your app followed the requirements and appeals to a particular market, then promoting it will be easy. All you need to do is conduct a quick market research and look for websites that your market frequent. You just need to promote your app there.

From here, you will see how you app is able to come to life and help a lot of people. Creating an app after all is more than just a business venture. It is a creative process where an idea is transformed into a product that can solve people's problems.

5 Interesting Things You Probably Don't Know About Cell Phones

Mobile phones are important devices in our lives. You most likely have had several models before. The current one may be the 2nd, 3rd 7th or 10th device to own. It is your number one choice for communication with family and friends. Chances are your prefer SMS over voice. I have been curious lately about cell phones. I decide to do some research and was fascinated about numerous tidbits I found out. Here are surprising facts about cell phones besides from the obvious ones.

1. There Are Lots of Them.

There are about 5.3 billion devices worldwide. The world just celebrated the birth of its 7th billionth man and that means penetration is 75.71%. However, some countries have higher penetration than others. United Arab Emirates boasts of 2 phones for each citizen, followed by tiny Montenegro at 192% according to the 2010 ITU statistics. Penetration in the USA stands at 91% while Africa comes last at 41%

In 2010, a total of 1.388 billion handsets were sold with Nokia leading with 453 million followed by Samsung with 280 million. This was an 18.5% increase compared to the total handsets sold in 2009.

2. They Make a Mess.

Cell phones are causing an environmental concern. About 125 million plus devices are discarded every year. Korea leads the pack on average replacing phones every 11 months. The high rate of replacement is partly as a result of change of technology. According to Moore's law, technology doubles every 18 months. Meaning in less than two years, a lighter and fancier phone comes to the market with better features than its predecessor. It is difficult for consumers not to go for it.

3. Cell Phone Flashlight.

If you have ever lost power and had to resort to using the cell phone flash light, you are not alone. According to a survey by Sprint about two-thirds of mobile phone users use the backlight as a flashlight. This is especially common when your car breaks down at night in the middle of nowhere. The flash light also comes in handy in rural areas of developing countries where power is scarce.

4. SMS is King.

About 6.9 trillion SMS were sent in 2010 and the number is expected to jump to 8 trillion in 2011. According to CNN, 31% of Americans prefer text over voice while a further 14% say the preference depends on the situation they are in. As you might have guessed, the younger generation leads in the SMS revolution. Interestingly, people in the 18-24 age groups send 109.5 text messages each on a normal day.

5. SMS Open Rates are Incredibly High.

A recent PEW research found interesting results. About 51% of all Americans use the phones for quick information. While 42% use the devices for entertainment. Americans are also very social and like sharing with 54% sending pictures and videos to friends and relatives.

In addition, cell phones are used for emergency notifications. This because: one, SMS open rates are as high as 98% and two, the average message is opened within 4 minutes. It makes SMS effective and preferable choice for time sensitive- information.

Cheapest iPhone 4S Deals Not Always The Best Offer for Consumers

The new Apple iPhone 4S in both White and Black colour schemes has now received new pay monthly contract deals that are officially the cheapest available over a 24 month agreement, however as tempting as these iPhone 4S deals look they are not necessarily the best option for general consumers.

These new cheapest deals for the iPhone 4S 16GB cost just £20 per month line rental and are now available on the Orange network in the UK, for the line rental charge the consumer gets 50 inclusive minutes to use to make calls at any time of the day and to any mobile network (including landline calls), 50 text messages and 100MB of inclusive internet access.

The iPhone 4S also needs to be paid for with an upfront price of £309.99 which makes the overall cost of the 24 month contract £789.99, this is significantly cheaper than the cheapest deal for a free iPhone 4S which is currently £41 per month and will cost the consumer £984.00 for the minimum term contract period.

These may sound like amazing iPhone 4S deals with a total saving of £194.01 but this is a very deceiving figure, for those consumers that use their phone regularly the minimal amount of inclusive minutes, text and data could cause a real problem.

Once these allocated volumes have been reached and exceeded the customer is liable for any extra usage which can soon accumulate over the space of a month, just 50 minutes of calls equates to less than 2 minutes of conversation per day and for anyone that enjoys using their iPhone 4S for web browsing, emails, downloading content or general updating of running applications the small 100MB of inclusive data may not be enough.

The costs of calls outside the allocated volume is notoriously expensive with some networks charging up to 35p per minute, this is also true for data usage and one of the main culprits of using substantial amounts of data is by watching online video clips or movies, these are data hungry practices and can soon eat into and exceed smaller data allocations of the cheaper contract tariffs.

The advice is simple, whenever consumers look to buy a new mobile phone they should always try to match their current usage requirements as close as possible to minimise any extra charges for exceeding their tariff limits, this is one reason that a more expensive deal for the iPhone 4S is proving the most popular of all.

This is offered by the 3 Mobile network and costs £35 per month line rental, for this the consumer can enjoy a healthy 1GB of data usage, 500 inclusive minutes of calls and 5000 text messages every month with an upfront charge for the iPhone 4S of £49.00, although the overall cost of the 24 month contract equates to £889.00 this could far outweigh the charges for exceeding the limits of a cheaper tariff.

How to Catch More Drunk Drivers By Using Their iPhone 4S and Smart Phone Data

In the future, will your cell phone, smart phone, or iPhone 4S keep you honest and obeying the law? I just bet it will, as it will be able to give GPS and other data as to your location, speed of travel, etc. This means if you speed down the highway, let's say on the I-95 from Jacksonville to Petersburg it might show your average speed at 82.5 mph and therefore you could get a ticket in the mail or have a state trooper on the next off ramp leaving town pull you over even if you were not speeding at that particular time.

Maybe such a system might also help identify potential drunk drivers, for instance, if someone is surfing the internet on their smart phone looking for liquor stores or bars on Friday Night, it might record that and then when they are in proximity of a sheriff their signal might alert the policeman that the probability is high that the driver has been drinking, thus, he ought to watch them and pay attention to their driving, or pull them over for a sobriety check?

In fact, there was an interesting article recently on SlashDot on October 16, 2011 posted by Samzenpus titled; "Verizon Wireless Changes Privacy Policy" which noted a comment from Flash2011 Blogger;

"Recently Verizon changed its home internet TOS to by defaut share your location with advertisers. Now Verizon Wireless has also changed its privacy policy to by default share your webbrowing history, cell phone location, and APP usage as well. Whilst there have been a few stories on these changes, internet forums have largely been quiet. Where is the outrage? Or have we just come to accept that ISPs are going to sell our personal information and web browsing habits?"

Obviously, these settings are put this way so that folks can enjoy all the features on their iPhones, and Smart Phones without having to do anything, but there is also a problem here with privacy, perhaps unannounced to the user. Policing authorities tell us not to worry if you are not doing anything wrong, as the smart phone also provides an alibi for you in case you are accused of something you didn't do, as it pinpoints your location at the time of a crime you may have been suspected of, which is an added bonus.

If someone is using a slurred voice, and the Siri System is having trouble, it may give false answers or unable to understand the person, which might indicate intoxication on a Friday Night as the user looks for a bar, or party location. Maybe these systems can help us get drunk drivers off the roads to save lives. Either way these technologies seem to have positives and negatives to them, something we need to be thinking about as our freedoms and liberties go through their toughest challenge yet in our nation's history. Please consider all this.

Researching graphene nanoelectronics for a post-silicon world

ScienceDaily (Nov. 10, 2011) — Copper's days are numbered, and a new study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute could hasten the downfall of the ubiquitous metal in smart phones, tablet computers, and nearly all electronics. This is good news for technophiles who are seeking smaller, faster devices.

As new generations of computer chips continue to shrink in size, so do the copper pathways that transport electricity and information around the labyrinth of transistors and components. When these pathways -- called interconnects -- grow smaller, they become less efficient, consume more power, and are more prone to permanent failure.

To overcome this hurdle, industry and academia are vigorously researching new candidates to succeed traditional copper as the material of choice for interconnects on computer chips. One promising candidate is graphene, an atom-thick sheet of carbon atoms arranged like a nanoscale chicken-wire fence. Prized by researchers for its unique properties, graphene is essentially a single layer of the graphite found commonly in our pencils or the charcoal we burn on our barbeques.

Led by Rensselaer Professor Saroj Nayak, a team of researchers discovered they could enhance the ability of graphene to transmit electricity by stacking several thin graphene ribbons on top of one another. The study, published in the journal ACS Nano, brings industry closer to realizing graphene nanoelectronics and naming graphene as the heir apparent to copper.

"Graphene shows enormous potential for use in interconnects, and stacking up graphene shows a viable way to mass produce these structures," said Nayak, a professor in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer. "Copper's limitations are apparent, as increasingly smaller copper interconnects suffer from sluggish electron flows that results in hotter, less reliable devices. Our new study makes a case for the possibility that stacks of graphene ribbons could have what it takes to be used as interconnects in integrated circuits."

The study, based on large-scale quantum simulations, was conducted using the Rensselaer Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations (CCNI), one of the world's most powerful university-based supercomputers.

Copper interconnects suffer from a variety of unwanted problems, which grow more prominent as the size of the interconnects shrink. Electrons travel through the copper nanowires sluggishly and generate intense heat. As a result, the electrons "drag" atoms of copper around with them. These misplaced atoms increase the copper wire's electrical resistance, and degrade the wire's ability to transport electrons. This means fewer electrons are able to pass through the copper successfully, and any lingering electrons are expressed as heat. This heat can have negative effects on both a computer chip's speed and performance.

It is generally accepted that a quality replacement for traditional copper must be discovered and perfected in the next five to 10 years in order to further perpetuate Moore's Law -- ;an industry mantra that states the number of transistors on a computer chip, and thus the chip's speed, should double every 18 to 24 months.

Nayak's recent work, published in the journal ACS Nano, is titled "Effect of Layer Stacking on the Electronic Structure of Graphene Nanoribbons." When cut into nanoribbons, graphene is known to exhibit a band gap -- an energy gap between the valence and conduction bands -- which is an unattractive property for interconnects. The new study shows that stacking the graphene nanoribbons on top of each other, however, could significantly shrink this band gap.

"The optimal thickness is a stack of four to six layers of graphene," said Neerav Kharche, first author of the study and a computational scientist at CCNI. "Stacking more layers beyond this thickness doesn't reduce the band gap any further."

The end destination, Nayak said, is to one day manufacture microprocessors -- both the interconnects and the transistors -- entirely out of graphene. This game-changing goal, called monolithic integration, would mean the end of the long era of copper interconnects and silicon transistors.

"Such an advance is likely still many years into the future, but it will certainly revolutionize the way nearly all computers and electronics are designed and manufactured," Nayak said.

Along with Nayak and Kharche, contributors to this study were: former Rensselaer physics graduate student Yu Zhou; Swastik Kar, former Rensselaer physics research assistant professor; and Kevin P. O'Brien of Intel Corporation.

Managing Defective Refurbished Phones

Buying refurbished phones are becoming more and more popular with people who have different tastes in owning cell phones. There are those that prefer to buy brand new cell phone units and there are those that like to buy used cell phones. The other sides of customers are those that buy refurbished phones.

Refurbished phones are not used phones. They are also not brand new phones. It only means that it is somewhere in between. Refurbished phones are cell phones that have been returned to the manufacturer because of some defect in the unit. Once these cell phones have been fixed, it is brought out in the market to be re-sold.

When a refurbished phone is out in the market the second time around, the cost of the unit is no longer the same as it was before when it was still brand new. The price is way much lower now thus making it more affordable for people who are looking for value for money mobile phones.

It should not happen but there could be instances wherein a refurbished phone might not be in a good condition upon receiving it or after several days you might have experienced a sudden defect in the phone. When this happens, it can cause some frustration because you already have a mindset that you have a new phone already and you have informed everyone of your new phone.

This type of case has to be returned to the distributor or reseller. However, before you return the cell phone, make sure that you check out first the conditions of the reseller or distributor. You need to make sure that they have a policy on returning goods and the conditions that come with it. There is no strict policy on this. Different resellers have different policies. What one may be offering, it might not be applicable to the other.

Look at the fine print of the deal. A good reseller or distributor states the terms and policies clearly. There is no grey area so you will feel comfortable, and you are assured that an action plan is in place in case things will not work out fine with the unit that you just purchased. Again, the policies for these resellers or dealers are not one and the same. Make sure that you follow the agreement stated on their website.

Some resellers or dealers will require you to return the handset in a complete form just like the way when you received it. The accessories and the other items that came with it should be returned, and a return policy should be stated as well in the website. You either get a replacement of the unit, or you get free credits in addition to the actual cost of the unit. Money-back guarantees depend on the resellers and not all offer this type of deal.

Getting a defective unit is nothing to fear about as long as before making that online purchase, you have understood the terms and conditions of the online store. Everything else will turn out fine.
