The extremely popular Blackberry Curve 9300 3G has now been upgraded with the release of the new Blackberry Curve 9360 but when it comes to contract deals and prices plus what exactly you get for your money, which of these two handsets should a consumer choose?
The older Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 is obviously now being sold at a cheaper price than the new 9360 edition but the extra cost of the newer handset brings with it the benefits of new technology, upgraded features and better functionality.
One of the biggest changes between these two Blackberry Curve phones is in the camera department with the newer 9360 model now sporting a 5.0 mega pixel camera with a flash compared with the 2.0 mega pixel lens of the original model.
Another drastic difference between these handsets is the inclusion of the latest Blackberry OS7 software in the Curve 9360 which is a vast improvement over the older OS6 and makes for a smoother and simpler user experience.
Other upgraded and new features include a far better resolution of the main screen, upgraded from 320 x 240 pixels to 480 x 360 pixels resulting in a far more sharp and clear display, NFC (Near Field Communication) has also now been added to the Blackberry 9360 which allows for mobile payments as well as wireless file sharing between compatible devices.
So with all of these improvements, just how much more does the newer model cost? Well, the original Blackberry Curve 9300 3G can now be ordered for as little as £10.50 line rental per month on O2 deals, this is the cheapest offer that includes a free phone.
Compare this with the cheapest deal including a free Blackberry Curve 9360 and consumers will need to part with £13.50 per month, that is an extra £72 over the minimum term contract period, this is also reflected in the SIM free cost of the handsets with a £70 price difference between the models.
The price difference is actually not a great amount in the whole scheme of the smart phones market, with handsets costing up to £699 for the likes of a SIM free iPhone 4S this small difference in price between these two Blackberry Curve phones is marginal.
Taking into consideration the amount of new technology, features and improvements that the consumer acquires with the new Blackberry 9360 the extra £3 line rental per month is a very small price to pay and will fit into many consumers budget.
