Windows Phone - The Future of Phones

There are many people interested in smart phones who do not want to buy Apple iPhones, but up until now, there haven't been a whole lot of options that can compare. However, Microsoft seems poised to give the smart phone market their best shot. News has been brewing from a variety of sources about what is now being touted as the Mango (some called it Tango), as a major competitor to the high-end market. The mid-market price point is making a lot of people excited, because instead of going out the gate with a high-priced option, the company is going with a middle of the road price option that will directly compete with Droid and iPhone and knock them down a few pegs.

The stripped-down phone has been named Tango in recent posts, and most are enjoying the play on words that comes along with an operating system that will be native to the device, Mango. Tango Mango is something that Microsoft officials are keeping tight-lipped about.

What people are talking about most often is not so much the name, although there are plenty of pundits that enjoy making fun of the company's naming conventions. Technology buffs are looking at the recent release of the names of the manufacturers that are working closely with Microsoft. Nokia and Samsung are prepping to hose the phones and will hope to combine the software they are developing with a stripped-down phone version that will have plenty of features, including mobile computer networking, with a more intuitive design.

The learning curve that many people have to go through when it comes to getting into the smart phone world is vast, which is why Microsoft is choosing to go with a bit more simplistic approach. While most devices that are being pushed by large companies try to mimic the abilities of Apple, the Windows phone is not trying to be another carbon copy, they are truly trying to innovate. Innovations might seem few and far between with phone technology, especially since most people believe that there is nothing new under the sun in regards to the latest and greatest in communication devices. However, leave it to Bill Gates and company to try and shake things up with all new media implications.

In a recent showcase, the Windows and Nokia model "Apollo" was presented as a stand-alone option that will have voice to speech recognition, text to speech, and so much more. You'll see a fully integrated and intuitive design that is set to be released early 2012 at the very soonest, with many technology bloggers giving it a Mid-2012 time frame.

To clear up some confusion, the Windows Phones Mango, Tango 1, Tango 2, and Apollo are all being released sooner than later, and the phone's OS will be interesting to see. Some videos have leaked to showcase the interesting functionality of the phone, which very well maybe the one true iPhone killer that some fans of Microsoft have been waiting on for some time now. It will be interesting to see if that is in fact what will occur, even though it seems like a tall task.

The Exciting World of Cheap Contract Phones

There's no denying of the fact that the dropping prices of cell phones is one of the most important reasons behind their popularity. We all remember the days when owning a mobile phone was considered to be something of a luxury which only a handful could afford. The handsets were exorbitantly priced and even the though of owning one by a common man was considered to be sacrilege.

As the number of companies manufacturing mobile phones increased and competition spread across continents, the price of a handset began coming down. Companies realized that the price of a mobile phone was undeniably the most major determinant as to whether it would be popular or not.

But what about the phones that comprised cutting edge technology? These phones, certainly, can't be offered at rock bottom prices. Mobile phone companies were found scratching their heads on how to sell these phones.

It was at this point of time that the concept of a contract phone was mooted. The idea was simple. Offer the handset under a contract to the customer whereby the customer would hire the phone for a particular period of time for a fixed monthly fee. This made high-end mobile phones come within the reach of the common man.

In fact, so much was the popularity of these contract phone deals that companies even started offering cheaper handsets under cheap contract phone deals. A cheap contract phone is almost like adding wings to a customer's dream of owning his favorite mobile phone at a reasonable price. Cheap contract phones usually come with a free handset and many associated benefits. These often include free talk-time, free messages and a host of other features.

Today, companies are offering even the latest smartphones under cheap contract phone deals. Consumers can extract several advantages from the mobile service provider when he enters into a contract which usually ranges between six to 18 months. The period, however, varies between service providers. The advantages that a user gets when he subscribes to a cheap contract phone deal includes reduced call charges, free roaming, discounted charges on data access etc. Many companies, these days, are even offering a second handset to a customer who is subscribing to a cheap contract phone deal.

Cheap contract phones are a win-win situation for both the service provider and the customer. While the service provider or carrier can lock in the customer for a specific period of time and get assured revenues as the customer can't change the carrier before the term expires, the customer is relieved of hassles to recharge his balance after a month so that he can continue talking. Besides, the customer gets to own a handset of his choice which otherwise would have been quite expensive and impossible for him to afford.

So if you're still in two minds whether a cheap contract phone deal would suit you, subscribe to one such deal and be a part of abundant enjoyment. You won't regret it for the rest of your life.

Types of Mobile Phones

In North America we call them cell phones, in other countries they are referred to as mobile phones but whatever they're called the technology is the fastest growing in the world. There is now a mobile phone for everyone, whether you just want to make a call or if you need a mini-computer that can do just about anything that a PC or laptop can do.

With some many different mobile phone companies having their hands in the pie, a few giants have been fighting over control of this multi-billion dollar business. Recently AT&T's proposed $39 billion purchase of T-Mobile USA was given the thumbs down by the federal government despite having 93 different lobbyists influencing and twisting arms in Washington and campaign contributions to both sides of the house totaling a staggering $46 million to date.

This is good news for the consumer who will continue to get competitive cell phone rates.

Basic cell phones are still the most widely used worldwide, these are devices that have basic calling capabilities and may be locked or unlocked. If a mobile phone is locked it only works with a specific carrier, for example AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile. After 90 days many companies are allowing phones to be unlocked or an unlock code can be purchased.

Smartphones and pocket pcs are more complex devices with the convenience of sending and receiving text messages, emails and allowing storage of documents and files. Each brand has its own operating system such as Windows Mobile, IOS or Blackberry.

Pocket PCs are simply smart phones that have touch screen capability. If a phone contains a SIM card then that card can be swapped out between devices, if those devices are unlocked.

The latest pocket PCs and smart phone were one of the most common requests as a Christmas gift this year and millions were wrapped and sitting under Christmas trees.

Careless and improper disposal of all those millions of old cell phones poses an enormous threat to the environment. Mobile phones thrown into the trash end up in landfills, where heavy metals leach from the phones over time and can pollute drinking water.

The solution is to either send your old phone to your carrier for disposal, take it to one of the many electronics stores that provide for recycling of small electronic gadgets, or if the unwanted cell phone is in good condition it can be sold on one of many online sites that purchase old phones or donated to a charity.

A Practical Guide to Buy Used Cell Phones

Buying a used cell phone could be quite tricky and can leave you, the buyer, cheated or short-changed. Though there are several good deals on used cell phones that are available in the market, you must look for the lemons.

Here's what you must keep in mind while buying a used cell phone.

What actually is a used cell phone?

First things first, a used cell phone is different from a refurbished phone. The latter is a pre-owned handset which is refurbished or repaired by the company itself. It usually comes with a new battery with the handset settings restored. A used phone, on the other hand, is a pre-owned handset that hasn't been refurbished. It's sold in the same condition as it is.

Which is the right phone for you?

Before starting your search for a used phone, you must consider the features that you're likely to need. It's also wise to set a budget. Are you a game and video addict? Do you like sending messages? Do you need to access the internet frequently? The whole point in considering a used or discounted cell phone is not only to realize a great saving but also avert you from spending more than necessary.

What you see, and don't see, is what you get

Whenever you come across and advertisement for a used or discounted cell phone, be sure to check the actual picture of the handset. Several advertisements try to trick potential customers with pictures of the handset downloaded directly from the manufacturer's website. In any case of doubt, don't buy. Today, almost everyone has a digital camera and shooting a real photo of the phone won't be any problem.

Compare prices

Seasoned bargain hunters know all about comparing prices of discounted cell phones. It's obvious that you're unlikely to buy the first discounted phone that comes your way. Don't get fooled with tantalizing words. Always try to shop around. Comparing prices doesn't mean looking for discounted cell phones only. If you're lucky, you may get a new mobile phone within your budget.

Buy from reputed dealers

Most dealers selling brand new mobile phones often deal in used and discounted mobile phones as well. It's always advisable to buy from a reputed dealer as you won't be duped into buying a spurious or defective handset. You can ask your friend who has bought a used or discounted phone for himself.

Many a time, buying a used or discounted phone beats having a most advanced or state-of-the-art handset. Used mobiles usually come out relatively faster after the introduction of a new handset and if you're lucky enough, you can lay your hands on a phone at a price which is a steal.

As a final word of caution, never buy a handset, the quality of which you aren't sure of. Otherwise, you may end up wasting your money. Besides, it's always advisable to check the quality of the phone personally rather than depending on the assuring words of the seller.

With the advent of cheap mobiles that are able to connect to the internet, information is literally available on our palm. The mobile phone industry is rapidly expanding with newer players entering the market and existing manufacturers expanding their line of products.

The penetration of internet to almost every nook and corner of the world has opened up a new avenue for buying mobiles. If you're one of those who are contemplating to buy a mobile handset and wondering which retail outlet or shop to visit, we would suggest that you relax in your living room and execute your purchase online. The benefit of buying a mobile handset online is similar to any other purchase made over the internet. As soon as you click on the mobile section of the e-commerce site, you'll come across the brands available and their respective process. All About Dual SIM and Multi SIM Phones

Dual SIM and multi SIM phones are relatively new types of cell phones. These phones usually have two or more slots for inserting two different SIM cards. This enables the user to avail mobile connectivity services from more than one service provider. One can even insert SIMs of several different in the slots that are available in the phone. This enables the user to carry one phone, rather than juggling between two handsets.

If you are someone who travels a lot, or have a mobile phone account which restricts cheap calls only to a small designated area, you can cut down on your roaming charges by buying another SIM besides the one which you mostly use. Moreover, the ability to have two or more active numbers of various frequencies simultaneously means that you'll be always within the range of coverage, regardless of where you go.

Before you buy a double SIM or multi SIM phone, there are certain things that you must keep in mind. Akin to all high-tech electronic gadgets, the technology involved in these types of cell phones, is constantly undergoing an upgrade. Early dual SIM phones where mostly gimmicky and the double SIM card holders allowed usage of the SIMs only one at a time. Adapters were necessary to cut the SIM cards so that they fit into the card slot. This often led people to ruin their SIM cards.

The latest dual SIM or multi SIM handsets don't have these problems. Today, you can purchase a truly handy cell phone that has multiple SIM card slots. You can switch between the two cards by pressing a simple button which is conveniently located on the body of the phone. These new models enable you to keep all your cards active at any given point of time or switch off one or two as per your convenience. When you shop for your multi SIM or double SIM phone, look for the terms DSDS i.e. dual SIM dual standby or MSMS i.e. multi SIM multi standby.

All multi SIM and double SIM mobile phones are multi-band. This means that these phones support several frequencies, typically with each SIM card working on a different range. For instance, a quad-band mobile phone supports networks that can operate on all four GSM frequencies that are used across the world i.e. 1900/1800/900/850 MHz. thus, such a cell phone is ideal for international travelers.

Tri-band and dual-band phones are also available as regards dual SIM phones. If you stay in Canada or the US, makes sure that the handset you intend to purchase supports your network's frequency i.e. 1900 or 850 MHz. Several tri-SIM cell phones have one CDMA slot and two GSM slots for the ultimate functionality and flexibility.

Chinese manufacturers were the first to introduce dual SIM and multi SIM phones to the market. The phone attained immense popularity and soon the more acclaimed mobile phone manufacturers brought out their own handsets to cash in on the increasing demand for double SIM and multi SIM phones.

Latest Mobile Phones for 2012

Just when you think you've got the latest cell phone another one comes on the market! Keeping up with the latest technology means deciding exactly what you want your cell phone to do, although the term "cell phone" is rapidly becoming so yesterday, I guess we should now be calling them mobile devices.

If you're confused then don't be. What do you actually need your cell phone to do? If you rarely text, send emails or access the internet then don't buy something that has too many bells and whistles because whether you use these capabilities or not your cell phone bill may become so high that your all-singing and all-dancing phone becomes totally cost ineffective.

What I like about the latest mobile devices is that they do away with many of the other devices I've been dragging around. I no longer need GPS, I use my cell phone as an alarm clock and a diary and my laptop rarely gets taken out of its case. I have no idea where my MP3 player is either, because all my music is now on my phone and my digital camera rarely gets used.

I also need fast internet access and the phone I chose, the Samsung Galaxy SII is definitely going to be my BFF for the next 12 months. Two years ago I purchased a phone with internet access that was so slow it drove me insane, I have to admit I was wary of buying another but the Galaxy has exceeded my expectations. It and the iPhone are about the most popular phones on the market today and I am sure they will continue to be so during 2012 but your choice should be based around the phone's operating system.

A Windows-based operating system will allow you to use "Pocket Word" and "Pocket Excel" to edit office documents if that's what you need. RIM's Blackberry is probably the best device for sending, creating and receiving emails and it's great for working on Facebook if that's your thing.

Symbian is Nokia's OS and it is now open-sourced. Both Ericsson and Nokia phones with the Symbian operating system are good for fast phone dialing, photography and voice control and with 100,000+ downloadable apps makes a good choice for 2012.

A similar number of apps is available on the iPhone4S and is reported to be the best mobile browser available.

Whichever cell phone you choose, you'll end up with a pile of electronics that you'll no longer need. Please recycle them all responsibly by taking them to an electronics store that offers free recycling - just don't throw them in the trash.

Interactive applications for cell phones may be most powerful forms of advertising

ScienceDaily (Dec. 8, 2011) — A new research study co-authored by an Indiana University professor suggests that interactive applications for mobile phones such as Apple's iPhone and Google's Android may be some of the most powerful forms of advertising yet developed.

The study confirms that using branded mobile phone apps increases a consumer's general interest in product categories and improves the attitude they may have toward the sponsoring brand. The researchers also found that mobile apps which are informational in nature or utilitarian were more likely to engage users than those where the app focused on entertainment or gaming.

Apps could be a way for advertisers to reach across traditional product or gender boundaries to appeal to new types of customers. Unlike viewing information through a print ad, media spot or a website, consumers will process a company's messages more deeply if they do so using an app that they've decided to download to their mobile device.

"You have a more personal connection with your mobile device than you will with a website," said Robert F. Potter, director of the Institute for Communication Research at IU Bloomington and an associate professor of telecommunications in the IU College of Arts and Sciences. "One benefit of the mobile app is that you go, you get it and you download the app -- it's now yours. It may be a deeper level of interactivity."

"The very personal nature of mobile phones, including the new smartphones, which are practically extensions of their owners, means that advertisers need to adopt new rules of conversation with mobile phone users," said the research study, co-authored by Potter and four researchers at Murdoch University in Australia.

It is believed to be the first study to test the actual impact of branded apps on consumers and appears in the current issue of the Journal of Interactive Marketing. Previous research has focused on text messaging and Web advertising.

According to the researchers, retailers who develop apps overcome challenges being presented by dramatic shifts in television viewing and barriers to advertising on mobile devices. Using the app, consumers "talk to the brand, not the other way around," and consumers feel comfortable controlling how much information they reveal when they customize the app.

"We found a double benefit," Potter said. "First, the app increases the general interest in the product category that you're trying to sell, and then the app also improves the attitude that you have toward the sponsoring brand ... and the purchase intention that you have towards the product -- your product.

"You have a more favorable attitude toward the brand that's sponsoring the app when you go to think about where you shop," he added.

The researchers used eight branded apps. Half of the brands were in product categories that predominantly target men and the other half, women. The four male-targeted brands were Best Buy, Gillette, BMW and Weber. The four female-targeted brands were Gap, Kraft, Lancôme and Target.

About 225 people between the ages of 18 and 74, from the United States and Australia, took part in the study. They generally were unfamiliar with the apps used. Respondents answered questions, and some had their psychophysiological data recorded, such as heart-rate and skin conductance, while they used the apps.

During a lab session, participants were presented with the apps in random order and were asked to interact with them for however long they chose. While they worked with the apps, researchers collected the participants' heart rate and arousal. Past research has shown that when people are asked to do something that requires introspection -- such as answering a question -- their heart rate goes up. Conversely, when doing something external, like playing a game, their heart rate goes down.

"We found through the physiology measures that when you have an app that provides people with information that it is something they internalize and personalize more than the external-based focus of the game-based app," Potter said. "You've invited the brand into your life and onto your phone. If it's an informational app, you're inviting that brand even deeper in, because now you're thinking about what's in your life and apply it to the things that the apps are presenting you with. With the experiential app, things are still kept at a distance -- you're still experiencing it on your phone and not in your life."

Apps that used an informational style were more effective at shifting purchase intention, compared to apps that used an experiential style, the paper added.

Examples of informational apps were the Kraft app, which provided useful tips about cooking and entertaining guests with their food products, and Target's app, which allowed shoppers to see the week's deals and clearance items and access product reviews by scanning bar codes. They were less affected by the Gap app, which enabled users to dress a virtual model, and BMW, which allowed users to configure a 3-D replica of one of its cars and take it for a virtual test drive.

Respondents were unaware of the differences in how they reacted to various apps. When asked, people told researchers there was no qualitative difference between the various apps.

"This study also suggests that the most successful type of app is the one that is the most intensive to produce," Potter and his co-authors wrote. "Designing an informational app that consumers find useful in their daily lives is a lot more difficult than building an experiential app by creating or adapting an interactive game: It requires developing a whole suite of tools instead of just one."

As mentioned earlier, the experiment included apps that seemingly would appeal primarily to men or women. But the researchers found that involvement and interaction with the applications led people in the study to see new benefits of products targeted for those of the other gender.

Potter thinks that an important new strategy for many retailers will be to market their app as well as their product in order to reach new potential customers.

"Marketing their apps to consumers that aren't a natural target can be a way of broadening the tent," he said. "If you market apps to people who may have never heard of your product or who aren't familiar with the product category, then our research shows that if you can get them to download the app then you may be able to introduce a whole new audience to your product."

A challenge for many marketers is the success of Apple's App Store, which offers more than 100,000 such applications. Getting a widespread interest in an app will require a major, persuasive ad campaign.

Other authors of the study were Steven Bellman, Shiree Treleaven-Hassard, Jennifer Robinson and Duane Varan of Murdoch University.

Third Generation Cell Phones

Technology adopters do not usually pay attention to technological standards and protocols of the devices they are using. They might be thrilled by the excitement the specific gadget arises. That might be contented by the services the device provides. That is why it is surprising how a buzz word, related to a technology generations, such as the mobile phone network technology, 3G phone, has become so common, and well understood.

For the ordinary consumer of mobile phones, and smart phones, it does not make any difference which generation of mobile phone they are using, as long as it provides them the excitement, and convenience of using it.

But still there are many others out there that merely use the new technology, without understanding the technological differences compared to former generations.

Anyway, what has made the 3G technology so common? Let us try to simply describe and understand the meaning of it. The third generation of mobile phone technology consists of a collection of international technical standards, defined by many international standard institutes. This includes Application services, wireless communication, mobile TV, video conferences, and more, all in their mobile environment.

The first generation of mobile phones emerged during the beginning of the 1980s. Then the second generation (also called GSM) appeared in the market, 10 years later the third generation mobile network launched during the 2000 decade.

So the third generation is just another stage in the cellular phone technology that converts the cell phone from a regular phone device into a fully functional device with wide range of services, most suited for roaming and mobility. A fourth generation is about to come, naturally.

The main difference between the various generations of the mobile cellular network is the data rate and the security they provide to the users. The improvement of these basic services paved the way to full internet access, video conferencing, mobile TV, Video on demand, music download, picture transactions, gaming and TV broadcasting. The internet web protocols that are used by the third generation mobile network (IP), keeps the user hooked to the internet at all times, making home desktop computers, and even laptops, to some extent, redundant.

No wonder that most of the cell phone manufacturers compete for market share, and fight for gaining the users attention, by flooding the market with most innovative technology of mobile sets, every couple of months. Vendors like Nokia, Blackberry, Sonny Ericsson, HTC, Samsung, and more, are all involved in this market and push it to its edges.

The success of the 3G technology and the wide adoption by common users pushed the cell phone vendors to include various services within the cell phone, making them smarter and smarter. Applications and services related to mobility, such as GPS, maps, setting direction, and so on made their way into the smart phones.

The tight competition and the vast applications available for the 3G cell phones made this technology a great success in the market, reduced costs, made it available to all people, all over the world, grown up, as well as kindergarten kids.

Selling Mobile Phones And Recycling The Old Ones

Each Christmas everyone in our household wants a new phone. What we used to do was pass them down, my husband would give me his old one and mine would go to one of the kids but not anymore. Four new phones appear under the Christmas tree and four old phones get tossed aside and eventually end up in a box somewhere.

I recently stumbled upon a number of online sites that actually buy old mobile phones; it had never occurred to me that you could sell mobile phones for cash. None of our phones is more than a year old and I decided this might be a way to recoup some of the money I had to pay out each year for these expensive gifts. I certainly didn't want them to end up in the landfill.

I was surprised to see the high prices some of these places online were giving for old cell phones. One comparison site was giving a consistent value for my son's old Apple iPhone of around $450! Now that's definitely worth looking into and most sites will even pay the postage to send them in. Even though some of the older phones are not worth as much, you can even sell broken phones, not for much but at least they stay out of the landfill which was my main concern.

I was a bit skeptical I must say but I sent 9 phones away, and crossed my fingers. Three days later I got confirmation that the company had received the phones and another telling me how much they were going to send me. A day after that over $600 appeared in my PayPal account! That certainly offset the cost of a few Christmas gifts.

As for the really old phones from years back I found out that my local electronics store offers a recycling service so I dropped them all off there. There are an estimated 800 million obsolete cell phones in the US, many of which end up in the garbage releasing toxic waste into the environment.

I wish everyone was aware that they can sell mobile phones for cash. Many companies send them to Third World countries where they are put to good use; some are given to at-risk people, such as battered wives and the elderly. Some are resold - but whatever the recycling companies do with them, the planet is better off and so am I!

Contract Phones Are Economical and the Best

With the ever-increasing competition between mobile phone manufacturers, the customer is being the ultimate beneficiary. Almost each day, cell phone companies are coming out with new and innovative methods to boost their sales. Offering handsets and connections on a contractual basis is one of the many strategies.

The mobile phone, once considered to be the prerogative of the rich and wealthy, is being spotted on the hands of almost all classes of consumers. The price of a mobile handset has steadily decreased over the years and this has enabled almost everybody to own a phone of his choice. While expensive handsets comprising advanced technologies are still being made, even these phones have come within the reach of customers as the companies have come up with contract deals on these cell phones. In fact, mobile companies are increasing their portfolio of handsets that are offered under contract deals. This is because the companies don't want to lose out in competition.

There are various types of cell phone deals by which you can avail a handset of your choice. You can choose a pay-as-you-go deal, a SIM-free deal or a SIM-only deal and own the phone of your choice. What deal you select would actually depend on your requirements.

Today, there are many attractive plans that cover cheap cell phones at affordable rates. Even the high-end mobiles are covered under contract deals which have resulted in these mobiles coming within the reach of the common man.

Contract deals on mobile phones have become overtly popular among all types of cell phone enthusiasts. While it is mostly beneficial to those people who can't afford a mobile phone, even a person who can afford one, is going for a contract deal. Under such deals, a handset is sold to the customer under an agreement for a specified tome limit which is usually 24, 18 or 12 months. During the contract period, the subscriber can't exit the contract and has to stick to the operator. Leading mobile phone service providers like Vodafone, Orange, Virgin etc. offer contract deals on mobiles.

The idea behind offering contract deals on mobile phones was to make the high-end mobiles available to all customers. The immense popularity of the scheme led to the inclusion of cheap cell phones in contract deals. Besides, several incentives and lucrative offers are usually announced with a contract phone deal to attract the customers. These often include free gifts like laptops, LCD TVs, cameras etc. Mobile phone companies also give their buyers other benefits like free text messages, reduced call rates, free calls, discount in monthly usage and several other things.

The internet is the best place to search for a good contract deal on cell phones. Most service providers and mobile phone companies upload the latest schemes on their website. But it's always advisable to compare the offers of multiple service providers before selecting one. The customer can bargain on the contract deal as well. In most cases companies accept the customer's demand and the latter is able to get an even better deal.

Select from a wide range of contract phones, attractive mobile phone deals, cheap handsets & economical call plans.

Find The Best Deals On Mobile Phones And Call Plans

Deciding upon the best phone and call plan can be problematic for many of us as mobile competitors proffer a diverse range of handsets and packages, all declaring they have the best offer available and the lowest rates.

As customers we are often confused as generally we don't know what is the best option for the price advertised and, although we try not to be, are easily influenced by an endless stream of advertising in publications and on TV, which often leads to selecting the most popular even though it's not necessarily the best one for our needs.

There are an abundance of websites selling mobile plans and phones and just as many offers to sort through, most have a billing structure that needs a degree in math to understand! It's often not until you receive the first bill that you realize there are hidden extras involved or it's simply not suited for your purposes.

Below are some basic guidelines that will help in your call plan selection taking into account budget and what you want from a call package.

The best way to go about choosing is to first select up to 5 that seem to fit your requirements, then take the time to evaluate each and compare it with other service providers before making any definite decision. Research is important as otherwise you'll only end up throwing away good money for no other reason than that you didn't spend time checking the options out properly.

We all want to cut down on our monthly bills and phone calls can add up considerably over the month, so if you can find a package that fits in with your calling habits the money saved will be worth the effort that goes into the search.

There are 2 main types of phone users - those who use it for texting and to chat with family or friends during off peak hours, and those who need it for business and are making calls in peak hours.

When checking out the different types of plans available you also need to be aware of the destination since prices will vary considerably between calls made locally, nationally or internationally. Those who regularly go abroad on business trips will benefit from a plan that offers great discounts on international calls.

Look online and it can seem as if there are an endless number of service providers declaring they have the best service and offers. Study their prices carefully as you don't want to be paying for a service that you don't actually need, or will never use. With prepaid plans you pay the same amount each month with unlimited free calls and text messages to the same network.

An idea of how much you are prepared to pay on Mobile Phone will give some guidance as to which plan will suit. Each provider's website has all the information for you to read through at your leisure, or better still go to a site that compares each mobile phone and call plans of various providers and then you can be sure the information you get is unbiased.

Forums and review sites are also a good source of information as they are honest opinions from people who have tested the phones themselves and can give advice and information on different kinds of call plans, such as a prepaid plan. It's all very well being impressed by a TV commercial from a leading service provider, but you need to consider if the plan is affordable for you and if there are any hidden elements to be aware of.

Recycling Mobile Phones And Various Options

Although consumers are being encouraged to recycle and reuse, I realized recently that the electronics industry and especially cell phone companies are responsible for encouraging consumers to accumulate a lot of old cell phones. Some estimate around 800 million of them are lying around unwanted in our homes!

It's easy enough to throw an old cell phone into the garbage, it doesn't look like much but some of the components release highly toxic chemicals into the environment. Imagine 800 million of them rotting away in the ground and you can understand what an environmental nightmare this could become. Toxic chemicals can leach into groundwater which then becomes our drinking water, complete with heavy metals.

It's not hard to find somewhere that recycles mobile phones. The first place to look is online to see if there are any local places where you can drop them off. Local charities are a good place to start. One gives them to the elderly and sets them up to be used in emergency and the recipient is encouraged to carry the phone at all times. If the person needs medical assistance then they simply call 911 and help is at hand.

Another charity works with battered wives. The women that receive these phones for free are often in danger from their ex-husbands or boyfriends, so again these phones are redesigned to be used in emergency situations. The good thing about donating old cell phones to charity is you can get rid of all those old cases and chargers too.

Many old cell phones are obsolete, you can't even give them away and you certainly can't sell them, but you can recycle older mobile phones with some of the big box electronics stores.

One company has come out with an ATM-type machine where you can take your old cell phone. The machine automatically clears the memory and pays you cash on the spot. Most of these machines are concentrated in California but the company is expanding across the country. The company then disposes of the phones in an ecologically-responsible way.

Some mobile phone companies are now including a recycling option right in the box in which you receive your new phone. Fill in a preprinted form and stick the prepaid label on the box and drop it in the mail, so now nobody should have a problem when they want to recycle their old mobile phone.

Great Cell Phones for Seniors

AT&T has two cell phones for seniors, the Pantech Ease and Pantech Breeze III. There is another AT&T cell phone, the Nokia 6085, that is senior friendly and although it is no longer in their product line up you should still be able to find them through some dealers or private party sources such as eBay. The Pantech Ease features a user friendly interactive touch screen, slide out QWERTY keypad, voice activated GPS (a great feature that will make sure that you always reach your destination safely), easy to use texting for those who want this ability, is blue tooth as well as TTY/TTD compatible and is M3, T4 hearing aid (HAC) rated. The Pantech Breeze III has intuitive menus, labels that are clear and easy to read, Audience earSmart (TM) that enhances your voice and suppresses noise and quick call keys so that you can program numbers that you use frequently and wish to access easily. This phone is also Bluetooth and TTY/TTD compatible plus it is M4, T4 hearing aid (HAC) rated. The Nokia 6085 offers a large keypad that is easy to operate, is TTY and hearing aid compatible. The dealers who are selling this phone seem to be offering an unlocked version, which means that you can choose the best service plan for your needs. If you shop for a Nokia 6085 on eBay you may find some that are unlocked and some that still require you to use the AT&T service plan.

The Pantech Ease and Pantech Breeze III are very similar in terms of features, the main difference is that the Pantech Ease has a slide out QWERTY keypad, which means that the entire front case of the phone is able to be used for the display and the Pantech Breeze III is a flip phone, which allows the keypad to be a bit larger, plus when the phone is closed there is a handy display on the outside of the case that shows the time. Both of these phones are geared towards the seniors who are comfortable with technology, but since they are very compact and easy to carry around even if you don't use all of the features offered they are both quality phones that have been well received in the marketplace.

There are some very handy accessories available for these phones, which include:

For the Pantech Ease

Memory card, car charger, vertical carrying case with clip, horizontal carrying case with clip, ultra-slim vertical black pouch and a variety of decorative gel skins and protective covers.

For the Pantech Breeze III
