Cellular Phone and Electronics Recycling

Out of all things to recycle, why cellular phones? There are many benefits to recycling. One very important reason to recycle cellular phones, wireless devices and electronics is because they contain hazardous, toxic components. Many dispose of electronics improperly thus leading to destruction and breakdown of earth's life sources. Is this true you may ask? Yes, this is a fact.

As an example, if you dispose of your electronics or cell phone and do not send it to a structured facility that has the proper means of disposal, your item may end up in a landfill. Once these cellular phones or electronic devices reach a landfill, the internal components start to breakdown and the harmful agents in the electronic breaks down, seeps into the soil, spreads to plants, spreads to our drinking water system, thus spreading to humans and causing toxic breakdown and can cause much harm to our very existence. It is important and vital for future generations that we do our part to maintain and protect the earths ECO system. We can do this by properly disposing of our cellular phones and electronics by means of recycling. So now you have helped in saving your environment and our future generations by doing this one action of recycling. But, that's not all!

You can gain even more benefits today by recycling! Did you know that cellular phone recycling is one of the top rated fundraisers for schools and nonprofit organizations around the world? The average home has 2-4 cell phones stored in a drawer. Why? Many people upgrade their phones over time and know that their cell phones are worth something, so they toss them in a drawer and never get around to doing anything with them and that is where the fundraising comes in! Oh yes, there is your return for school supplies, the extra needed for school budget by just recovering and collecting those phones as donations! This works very similar to box top collecting, just ask for the donations and they will come!

Nonprofit organizations can also benefit fully from such recycling efforts. Many today are in desperate need of funding and need cell phone drives or a longer term collection box set up to bring in this extra income. Recycling drives and events are a proven way to bring in extra funding. Many do not pursue such avenues because they assume it's a complicated process. Recycling is actually very simple and rewarding. Trained professionals can be most beneficial in providing you with guidelines and the strategy needed to host such events and to make them work correctly and most efficiently.

Whether you decide to recycle for cause or to simply do your part to save our planet from environmental destruction, you can be assured that you are making the right choice by recycling!

Maybe you are hosting a charitable event and need to do everything you can to earn for that cause. Whatever your cause may be whether it's personal or group related, you can earn fast with cellular phone collections!

We encourage you to become a part of such a recycling organization because it not only helps save our earth but helps people today and generations to come. We are strongly committed to helping others by our knowledge of cellular phone and electronics recycling. We encourage you to do your part and recycle!

We focus on 100% ECO Friendly proper disposal of all cell phones, wireless devices and electronics. We have years of experience in fundraisers, charitable work efforts and raising funding for cause by means of recycling. We look forward to helping you with your cause.

Selling Mobile Phones And Recycling The Old Ones

Each Christmas everyone in our household wants a new phone. What we used to do was pass them down, my husband would give me his old one and mine would go to one of the kids but not anymore. Four new phones appear under the Christmas tree and four old phones get tossed aside and eventually end up in a box somewhere.

I recently stumbled upon a number of online sites that actually buy old mobile phones; it had never occurred to me that you could sell mobile phones for cash. None of our phones is more than a year old and I decided this might be a way to recoup some of the money I had to pay out each year for these expensive gifts. I certainly didn't want them to end up in the landfill.

I was surprised to see the high prices some of these places online were giving for old cell phones. One comparison site was giving a consistent value for my son's old Apple iPhone of around $450! Now that's definitely worth looking into and most sites will even pay the postage to send them in. Even though some of the older phones are not worth as much, you can even sell broken phones, not for much but at least they stay out of the landfill which was my main concern.

I was a bit skeptical I must say but I sent 9 phones away, and crossed my fingers. Three days later I got confirmation that the company had received the phones and another telling me how much they were going to send me. A day after that over $600 appeared in my PayPal account! That certainly offset the cost of a few Christmas gifts.

As for the really old phones from years back I found out that my local electronics store offers a recycling service so I dropped them all off there. There are an estimated 800 million obsolete cell phones in the US, many of which end up in the garbage releasing toxic waste into the environment.

I wish everyone was aware that they can sell mobile phones for cash. Many companies send them to Third World countries where they are put to good use; some are given to at-risk people, such as battered wives and the elderly. Some are resold - but whatever the recycling companies do with them, the planet is better off and so am I!

Recycling Mobile Phones And Various Options

Although consumers are being encouraged to recycle and reuse, I realized recently that the electronics industry and especially cell phone companies are responsible for encouraging consumers to accumulate a lot of old cell phones. Some estimate around 800 million of them are lying around unwanted in our homes!

It's easy enough to throw an old cell phone into the garbage, it doesn't look like much but some of the components release highly toxic chemicals into the environment. Imagine 800 million of them rotting away in the ground and you can understand what an environmental nightmare this could become. Toxic chemicals can leach into groundwater which then becomes our drinking water, complete with heavy metals.

It's not hard to find somewhere that recycles mobile phones. The first place to look is online to see if there are any local places where you can drop them off. Local charities are a good place to start. One gives them to the elderly and sets them up to be used in emergency and the recipient is encouraged to carry the phone at all times. If the person needs medical assistance then they simply call 911 and help is at hand.

Another charity works with battered wives. The women that receive these phones for free are often in danger from their ex-husbands or boyfriends, so again these phones are redesigned to be used in emergency situations. The good thing about donating old cell phones to charity is you can get rid of all those old cases and chargers too.

Many old cell phones are obsolete, you can't even give them away and you certainly can't sell them, but you can recycle older mobile phones with some of the big box electronics stores.

One company has come out with an ATM-type machine where you can take your old cell phone. The machine automatically clears the memory and pays you cash on the spot. Most of these machines are concentrated in California but the company is expanding across the country. The company then disposes of the phones in an ecologically-responsible way.

Some mobile phone companies are now including a recycling option right in the box in which you receive your new phone. Fill in a preprinted form and stick the prepaid label on the box and drop it in the mail, so now nobody should have a problem when they want to recycle their old mobile phone.

Recycling Nokia Handsets To Help The Environment

When I was looking for a store where they sell Nokia E72 phones I'd already made a resolution to recycle all my old cell phones. I was looking for a store that would do that or find other ways I could either help someone else or at least keep the phones out of the local landfill. Most of us are changing our mobile phones on a regular basis and if you're like me you have a drawer full of old mobile phones lying around collecting dust.

It turned out I had a number of choices. There are quite a few companies online where you can send your old mobile phones to be recycled. One in particular sends you on online coupon you can use at Best Buy, but it has to be an up to date phone to get the biggest credit. Many of my mobile phones are so old nobody wants them.

Next I found out that Best Buy itself gives you a credit for a used phone, but again the older the phone the less credit you receive and some of mine could have been classified as antiques. I also discovered that many branches of Best Buy also have recycling kiosks where you can recycle these older, obsolete handheld phones and other small electronics.

It turned out that during my search for the places that sell Nokia phones, I found my carrier had the best deal, and when my new phone arrived the box contained a prepaid card that I could use to send my last handheld phone away for recycling - but only one. What was I to do with the rest of them? I had a pile that belonged to me, my husband and two teenage children.

Then I discovered a local charity that works with battered women and children that gladly accepts used, working cell phones and chargers to give to women who are at risk. They are given a recycled phone to use in case of emergency, and were even glad to get the old cases and car chargers that went along with them.

So that's what I did, I returned my last cell phone to my carriers who sell the Nokia E72, took the rest of my more recently made cell phones to the battered women's shelter and recycled the rest, along with a pile of miscellaneous wires, old chargers and printer ink cartridges that were cluttering up my drawers to my local Best Buy recycling kiosk.

Find out more about ways to sell Nokia and information on effective methods to sell Nokia E72.
