The Nickel metal Hybrid (NiMH) batteries were a variation of the NiCd batteries and only excluded cadmium from its constituents. Cadmium is a heavily toxic chemical and had disposal problems as well. These were eliminated in NiMH batteries which had a scant memory effect.
Of late Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries have become the most popular in mobile phone technology. These batteries are light, powerful and small and have no memory effect. Almost all high-end phones and many discounted cell phones as well have this battery. The cost is the only drawback of these batteries but they make up as regards their performance and size. These batteries have been found to be compatible with discounted and used cell phones.
Lithium Polymer (Li-Polymer) batteries are the newest type of mobile phone batteries being produced these days. Most recent smartphones have this battery. But used or discounted cell phones rarely work with these types of batteries. They are quite rare but an increasing number of mobile phone manufacturers are using Li-Polymer batteries in their handsets.
A fully charged battery is vital for the performance of your mobile phone, regardless of whether you have a new handset or a used and discounted cell phone. Make sure that you discharge the battery completely ahead of recharging it.
