6 Ways To Ensure Your Text Message Is Read All The Time

A text messages is an important form of reaching clients. To start with, not many people share handsets. So your messages will be delivered to the right person without any screening. Secondly, you can reach clients anytime at a relatively low cost. Incidentally, it is the joy of any SMS marketer to have his messages opened, read and acted upon. However, it is not always the case. Why? Well, because most marketers violate basic SMS etiquette. Here is how you can increase the number of your messages that are read most of the time.

1. Avoid graphically dense messages and big picture files.

Messages with photos or graphics take long to open. They may, in some instances, cost more to customers. In addition, not all phones have the capability of handling graphics. You also need to be cognizant of the fact that your clients may be on the move and the last thing they will want is to download a mass document.

2. Plan on including a 'take away' in every message.

Every message you send should have something beneficial to recipients otherwise do not send it. What is important is relative to your clients. However, anything with a coupon, important news, or money saving deals is considered important. In addition, a thank you message shows recognition of your clients and can sometimes be considered a 'take away'.

3. Keep your text message within the 160-characters limit.

As you may be aware the maximum character length of a message is 160. Anything above gets broken up into different messages. Small massages have a higher chance of being forwarded making your campaign viral.

4. Keep your timing right.

The fact that people have phones within reach 24 hours a day does not give one a ticket to send messages any time of the night or week. With practices you will notices what times that give you the best conversions. However, sending message at night may be considered intruding. Sending messages on Friday for an event slated on Tuesday may be incorrect timing.

5. Send SMS that is aesthetically sound.

A message that is inviting is more easily read than on that looks poorly formatted. Over time subscribers will pigeonhole you into a certain mental compartment as a person with tidy looking messages. Strive to be one known for stunning looking messages. One thing that can increases aesthetics of messages is using proper English formatting.

6. Avoid stiffness in messages.

Stiff messages are those that are formal. They have no personal touch and sound dry. These are messages with a very low density of you and occasionally sound legal. To minimize stiffness, you need to know your clients more. Talk to them about things that matter in their lives.
